Subject: Cortana skin for v3 (Caution. Nudity.)

Angel_Natavi ( ) posted Sat, 12 July 2008 at 10:09 PM · edited Fri, 31 January 2025 at 1:54 AM

I have in my posession, a skin for V3.  It is a custom skin, made by myself for an AI character.

For those who have played Halo 3, and know who Cortana is, I hereby present for your viewing pleasure, a planned release of my current WIP, Cortana.  She will be ready here shortly.  Shown here is the Othily hair, a freeby that I found on this site, the texture modified for coding and current shading problems.

In order to go forward, one must often times look to the past.

Be aware that if you do publish a skin you CAN NOT use copyright/trademarked[ie: Cortana] names it the title of the skin or it will not be allowed in free stuff. I'm sure you can invent a new name for it tho.. ...

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again

Yep.  I am more than aware of this fact.  Nods.  I was going to go with game AI skin.  Shrugs.  Either way, thank you for the warning.  Any comments thus far though on the progress?

Also, would anyone be interested in knowing that this skin is fully made in nothing but MS paint so far?   And yes, I have a lot of time on my hands.

Just a head's up as there have been quite a number of these type of innocent errors and was seeking simply to close the barn door before the horse got out....LOL...also have you looked into the free paint.net I think it's called...a lot like PS I hear.. ...

Oh, I have a copy of photoshop.  I just can't do straight lines in there to save my life, so yeah.

In PS

SHIFT+DRAG draws lines constrained to the X or Y axis.

SHIFT+CLICK draws a straight line segment from the last point to the new point.
The segments are added to the current line until the SHIFT is released.
Applying SHIFT+CLICK again starts a new line.

ALT+CLICK activates the color picker

CTRL+CLICK moves the layer

Hope that helps.

Actually... yeah, that does help.  Quite a bit actually.  Can you tell me how to make the magic eraser select all of one color, and erase everything of that color, and not just the continuous part?

Select the colour with the eyedropper and then go: Select>Color Range and drag the slider till you have what you want. The Help at the top is a lot of help learning this stuff and really conveniently located at the top of the screen, heh heh heh.. ...

Heya, I like second skin textures. Ya never haf ta worry about poke-through. There are some sci-fi unimesh skin textures (available here) that I like to use alot. This texture would be a welcome addition! :D However, I've never played Halo3 (still use a computer made last century). So I don't know who Cortana is. That said, I was wondering why you would spend so much time making a 'look-alike'. I mean, this is looking pretty good and I thought you should just go nuts with the texturing and make her your own unique sci-fi creation. Maybe for your next V3 texture project? Yes? What do you think?

Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things!  ; )

Hmmm...  Perhaps.  All said and done, I have made a look alike, because there are certain points of the character of Cortana that I do not like, like her assymetry.   One line on her chest goes to her shoulder, the other goes to her collar bone.  As for making my own, I already have.  Gestures to the pic.  However, I will have to edit her to make her copy-write-violation free.
