Yes it is great. I am "playing" with it right now, although I use, and I will use wings3d for modeling, I think I can get many things from TS.

Is Truespace considered allowable by TehBryster and other cardinals? I ask only because I'm new to this forum and don't wish to be kicked out for using tS. Also, what apps are OK to use? I heard that wings3d is considered a bad thing here. What about Carrara?

Seem like free huh? I downloaded & installed it....no fine print anywhere of a time restricted demo.

But, why and how?? (not that I'm complaining...just curious...)

Apparently Microsoft bought Caligari to counter Google's free SketchUp.

foleypro ( ) posted Sat, 26 July 2008 at 11:54 PM

Hhahahahaaaaaa....

I have Paid for the upgrades since 99...

Now what Norman needs to do is open a store like DAZ or rendy and go to it...

Much more content comin up...

Oh hey make sure you grab the FREE tutorials too..

And lets start Playin in real time....
Trueplay is cool too...

AgentSmith ( ) posted Sun, 27 July 2008 at 12:51 AM

Grabbed it all man!

I played around with that TS3.2 free version that came out forever ago, always liked it even though I recognized that it had a bit of a quirky gui, but whatever...I've learned Bryce and ZBrush, you don't get more quirky than those two.

Sketchup is pretty cool and easy/fun to use from the start, but of course I wanted to be able to export anything I made in it....can't do that with the free version.

foleypro ( ) posted Sun, 27 July 2008 at 1:03 AM

Ahhh..

Great thang is Norman finally gave us Back .X support for gaming...
You had to buy gameSpace to get gaming imports and exports...

Wait till ya play with the REAL time rendering YES even soft shadows..(Dont have to render)
Wait till ya play in REAL time in a scene with a friend whil I am pulling Vertices you might be UV mapping and another friend might be Textureing....HOW cool is that...?

Maybe we might collaberate on a game level Kirk...?

foleypro ( ) posted Sun, 27 July 2008 at 1:11 AM · edited Sun, 27 July 2008 at 1:13 AM

OF course NOT to step on any toes here in the Great and all that is good BRYCE forum,This OT...

But hey I have a Tutorial that will open alot of the BRYCERS eye's...And here is the Kicker I told all of you years ago that Bryce and tS go hand in Hand...

I am doing a Tutorial that I will have finished in the next couple of weeks...

I am going to show you how to make a scene in tS and then open in BRYCE useing the same textures and shaders,,,So cool...

-That would be awesome to read/see that!

*Maybe we might collaberate on a game level Kirk...?

-I have ALWAYS wanted to make some sort of level in a video game. I used to play the HELL outta Unreal Tournament. I guess that was what made me think about it as I had downloaded at least a couple hundred extra levels for that game made from dudes like me sitting in front of a computer.

Very unfortunately, time is tight in my work life. Right now I am just taking a little 1-2 week vacation. But, once work is on again, I haven't got time to breath (and I better secure my next job fast what with the f-ing actors about to go on strike...)

But, I wouldn't ever say no to doing that, given the chance and some time, I would try it!

Ok It is icones driven interface hard to remember (some like it ,some not) but TS has lots of features and  it is powerful  ANd  now it is free (i have payed before to have it)
Dont forget to download the courses and the big manual
For rendering it is basicly DX9  and real time display renders But using VRay (you must buy) the render is excellent
Load and save many formats Dont forget to install Luuv plugin (included) for obj format

foleypro ( ) posted Sun, 27 July 2008 at 10:01 AM

Hmmmm...
I remember somewhere that there is an option to turn all icons into text...

Maybe that was just in the testing cycle...

50parsecs ( ) posted Sun, 27 July 2008 at 2:44 PM

There is also a renderman compliant plug-in, so you have the choice of 4 different renderers!!!

AgentSmith:
I'd bet the interface is worse than 3.X but if you look at C4D's, Carrara's or for that matter MAX's interfaces  they aren't much better - it'll take some getting used to but it I think it will be worth it.

Just another OFF topic...

AgentSmith ( ) posted Mon, 28 July 2008 at 2:48 AM

I DO have Crysis!

I had been running it on my old PC which was underpowered for it, but after I get my new video card and plug it into my new PC I just built, I will be in heaven.

I remember drooling over the Crysis sandbox2 back when they were first releasing videos of it. THAT'S what 3D creation needs to be (no matter what program you're using)

Crysis eh?

i remember when Half-Life (GOY Edition) first came out. Sierra offered a level editor for seventy buckazoids which I jumped on ... turns out they canceled the software and I still have an uncashed check from the French Company which bought out Sierra to prove it.

relax it was a duplicate check which I assume I could have cashed - being honest and all that though, I didn't. (I can hear you saying - 'won't get rich that way' but the way I figure it, rich is in the eye of the beholder; i mean if I hadn'ta saved Robin Masters life and Higgins wasn't the wonderful guy he was - Oh wait a minute ... that's 'Magnum P.I.'  - nevermind..)

Incarnadine ( ) posted Thu, 31 July 2008 at 9:50 PM

so what's wrong with Cinema's interface bikermouse? (grin)

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

bikermouse ( ) posted Thu, 31 July 2008 at 10:44 PM

Nothing, if you study it for hours and hours.  Someone coming into it cold would have dificulty with it though. As an occasional user, I still have some problems with it  which I might be prone to chalk up to lazyness and lack of research . . . given the compexity of the app though, you'd be crazy to ask for the simplicity of say, Wings.(What's that Bryster? Now, you KNOW I don't share your views on Heresy, so stop it ! ! ) Tell you what - go into Blenders interface and try to make heads or tails of it in under a week.

A newby would have a lot of trouble finding things in C4D in the same way - for example the Bodypaint menu.

. . but be that as it may, I've been hoping to see AgentSmith to work with T.S . for what seems two millenia now; as good as he is, we'd all benefit from his experiences with it - providing of course that he posts his findings once in a while.

Well, it's been a hard day - too much sun and not enough Ovaltine.

If you have any questions, drop me a line. I wasn't looking for a serious answer (hence the grin). I know what you mean about blender.

50parsecs ( ) posted Fri, 01 August 2008 at 2:29 AM

However, the proposed interface for ver.2.5 of Blender is supposed to be much more "conventional", and user friendly and you just know that it will probably cause a major revolt by long-time users who will want their beloved interface to stay the same. ;)

FranOnTheEdge ( ) posted Tue, 02 September 2008 at 5:30 PM

Of course, if 'TheBryster' ever strayed into another forum, say the C4D forum for example,  a change of perspective, so to speak, might occur; the pot might call the kettle black or words to that effect.

As to old dogs: a sleeping one is best left to lie in the bed it made and bite the hand that feeds it on it's own.

As I once said:"I can make a big enough mess of it on my own - I don't need your help !!"

meanwhile, back at the original topic: has anyone run into any limitations on the ts76 ?

AgentSmith ( ) posted Thu, 04 September 2008 at 10:47 PM

Nope, no limitations at all so far. But, then again I am not a TS guru. I only know like 10% of what I'm looking at.

Yes it appears to be the real thing, full version. I suggest people should snatch it while they can. Once Micky gets it..it will either get shelved or so choked with DRM crap (like many things they have acquired in history) , it will be useless.
