Subject: DoF- Camera to subject

VRG ( ) posted Tue, 29 July 2008 at 5:29 AM · edited Thu, 02 January 2025 at 1:30 AM

Hi All

How do you measure the distance from the camera to the subject? I am currently using guesswork and trial renders IOW hit-and-miss.

Thanks,
VRG

The following is the link to tutorial on "Camera Parameters: F/Stop and Depth of Field" by Robert952 posted in the Daz website support tutorials section.

I hope this helps.

Thank you, LBAMagic, I am on my way. The DS Manual did not really help with this.

Another thing to use is  Guandalug's DOF camera control script which you will find here: www.nightstone.com/~guandalug/DAZFreebies/scripts.php
Very easy to use and a no-brainer, you'll find other useful scripts there as well.

And my personal favorite, Dreamlight's Camera-pointer over at DAZ, not free, but with a lot of useful functions like over lays for the Rule of Third, near and far DOF-planes in the cameraview to place your point of focal where you want it!

I can't do without it anymore!

DS Manual is lacking in many useful things. But luckily DAZ has free website tutorials.
Also many great tutorial videos by very accomplished 3D artists are posted at YOUTUBE.
Under the YOUTUBE videos search tab type DAZ Studio.

Happy rendering
