Subject: Texture Animation

Is it possible to animate textures over time/per frame?  And can it be saved to the Library?  If so, how?

Thanks in advance.

1.I've never done it but I think it's possible to use a movie-file (avi) instead of an image map, if you want to use a plain texturemap.

2.If you want to use a procedural texture (shader), there are lots of possibilties for animation, if you look in the advanced tab of the materialroom you will notice that most dials have keys in front of them: it means that all those dials can be animated, So yes: you can animate textures but only in poser 5 and above, it won't work in DAZ-studio (perhaps with the animation-plugin, but I don't have that!)

The question is:what you want to be animated?

Best regards,

Bopper.

To start off with, I want to animate a sci-fi console.  I was thinking of using a movie file, but then it would be difficult for other clients to change the movie into something they want.

Basically I just want to animate a series of textures, 1 for each frame at around 30 or so frames.  So nothing major (I hope).

Take a look at this link. Though it is not what you are looking for, the product description would give us a clue on how to do animated textures.

And if you do figure it out, make a tutorial out of it please!

Use a video editor like VirtualDub to assemble the 30 pics into a 30-frame
movie in Uncompressed AVI format.  Then you can apply the AVI directly
to any of the material components.

For instance, click on Diffuse Color ...  New Node ... 2d Textures ... Movie.

The "Key" to animating textures in Poser is to click on the KEY next to the node you're wanting animated!
