Subject: I knew Rosity was broke...... but

cherokee69 ( ) posted Mon, 04 August 2008 at 9:49 PM · edited Sun, 06 October 2024 at 1:21 PM

I knew that most people were interested in only one thing around here but I never thought it was this bad that not one single soul other than myself even bothered to reply to a post made by a friend market.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php .  All he is looking for is a simple prop so I told him to ask here and someone would be able to direct him. You guys really "threw egg in my face" on that one. Well, he's totally turned off by Rosity and the user base now because his message has been here for some time now and not any response from anyone. People talk about this being a "community" but they sure aren't proving it...well, they are in a way...amongst people they know.

Gareee ( ) posted Mon, 04 August 2008 at 9:59 PM

Well, I had never seen one, so I didn't reply to that thread.. imagine 30 replies of "I've never seen one".

That would have been better?

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Exactly this.

You might as well PAY attention, because you can't afford FREE speech

markschum ( ) posted Mon, 04 August 2008 at 10:08 PM

I would give it a few days before getting annoyed.

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Mon, 04 August 2008 at 10:15 PM

oops, sorry 'bout dat, cher!  :crying:
post a link to a freebie paper bag of interest, then maybe one of 'em can
do the closing and folding morph.  just takes a bit of time, don't ya know.
I did a freebie bag back in the old days, but it was for poser 3, and porno.
not folded, either.

Quote - I knew that most people were interested in only one thing around here

Any idea what that might be? I'm stumped - I honestly can't believe that most people around here are interested in the same thing I am.

Quote - You guys really "threw egg in my face" on that one. Well, he's totally turned off by Rosity and the user base now because his message has been here for some time now and not any response from anyone.

For someone lamenting the lack of 'community' here, you and your friend seem to be awfully quick to think the worst of your fellow members; my gosh, the original request was posted this morning - should everyone, in the spirit of community, drop everything they're doing just to make you feel warm and fuzzy about how close we all are? In less than 16 hours, people didn't have the answer you wanted so you condemn the entire Rosity community? How arrogant! How selfish!

Quote - People talk about this being a "community" but they sure aren't proving it...well, they are in a way...amongst people they know.

I think the proof needs to start in your own house. Sorry if this seems un-neighborly, but if I'm going to be outgoing, I think it's the least you can do to show some respect to people who so frequently take their own time to help others, and don't insult them when it doesn't happen as soon as you snap your fingers.

TheOwl ( ) posted Mon, 04 August 2008 at 10:41 PM

I just rather be creative. Model my own and make my own morph.

Its just a paper bag for chrissakes.

markschum ( ) posted Mon, 04 August 2008 at 10:50 PM

I have posted a bag I did a while ago  in the other thread .

Its a bit rough in spots but seems to render ok. Not textured but uv mapped and a seperate material on the sides for a logo . It was made as a fast food takeout bag .

nico4 ( ) posted Mon, 04 August 2008 at 11:31 PM

Ok, I saw the thread and I hope he got what he needed. Everyone needs to just settle down! Rosity community rules!

Paloth ( ) posted Tue, 05 August 2008 at 12:54 AM

I think most people in this thread don't need to settle down.

Marque ( ) posted Tue, 05 August 2008 at 9:09 AM

Pretty sad for you to attack the community like this. Why didn't you do a search for a bag, sure you would have found one and you could have helped your friend out rather than attack us because we didn't jump on the post. I don't read every post here but try to help others when I can. I also don't get my knickers in a ruffle if someone doesn't answer my post immediately. As stated by others, we do have outside lives and I for one don't visit rendo every day. You have been here long enough to know that. Especially these days when some of us have to work overtime to support our poser habit. Shame on you. Never make promises for other people, you will be disappointed if they don't keep them for whatever reason.

Marque ( ) posted Tue, 05 August 2008 at 9:11 AM

I see your friend has also been around since 2001, why would you have to tell him to come in here to ask? Troll.

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Tue, 05 August 2008 at 10:02 AM

It is odd too because the post was answered and found and helped within the same day. Not maybe withing the same hour or anything but within the same day is pretty good around here.

markschum ( ) posted Tue, 05 August 2008 at 10:25 AM

Sometimes requests dont get an answer in a short time . That doesnt mean people are ignoring it , but they may not know of an item , or they arent online and reading the forums , or like me , I didnt read that forum item .  I notice the ones that read " HHHHHEEEEELLLLLPPPPP - Paper bag required .... "    hehehe
The folded bag is not a simple prop to make , at least I didnt find it that easy to do.
At least several people here will create models if they seem interesting or not extremely difficult but it does take time .

I find some of the answers in this thread a bit harsh , but true.  For me Monday morning is not a prime time for reading the forums , its usually after work and often after the evening television is done with .

The guy now has a bag , so join hands and sing with me now ... "Kumbuyah ...... "

Not sure what the complaint is.  The request was made at 7:01am and by 10:37pm the
same day  a bag was provided.  I wish I could get service like that from my cable company.

I seriously doubt that. Your friend has nearly a thousand posts on these forums, he's asked for a free prop on the poser forum before and received same-day help, so I doubt he's having the hissy fit you claim he's having. Your post just makes him seem ungrateful, which he probably isn't.

I've got a complaint - why aren't all the nice things in the marketplace free?

I mean everyone knows artists are supposed to starve, thats traditional, so they obviously don't need any money for luxurys like food

Just kidding :)

Community? Where? Here? I thought this was the place to get praise from your so called buddies on mediocre images, (while no one really dares to admit the images really aren't that good at all) and the real good stuff gets hardly any comments or views...... Renderosity a community? I thought this place was one big popularity contest and the place where a lot of pretend artists gather.

I dont PRETEND to be an artist . In fact I dont claim to BE an artist . I play with poser and some other applications and try to create pretty or funny or pictures that convey a message .  I dont reallt care what anyone thinks of my stuff , I do it for me , although everyone likes compliments .

I hope this thread dies NOW , it is wandering into areas best left alone .

One of my niece's miniatures. she keeps them here if they are showing them in the region.

They get pretty upset when you call them ponies.  But then again they call a simple halter shank a leading rope line or handeling lead line.

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Wed, 06 August 2008 at 6:02 PM

oh, how cute!!!!!!
I have a hard time telling which end of a horse to feed, I definately couldn't tell a pony from a miniature horse, please ask the horsey to forgive me :)

Very cute little critter! Or should I say miniature critter.

I can see their proportions are more horse-like then in a pony.

Paloth ( ) posted Wed, 06 August 2008 at 11:05 PM

I just checked the thread that inspired this one and can only conclude that something extraordinarily weird is going on. The poser who asked for a paper bag lunch prop was directed to a freebie on the very same day and ended his participation with the following statement:- "very cool!!! thank you so much" What could possibly explain the ire of the opening post in this thread? I can think of several explanations, but it would be against forum rules to list them.

Road apples are what comes out of the south end of horses.
