Subject: Help... Adaption Threshold? Bucket sizes?

ecccoman ( ) posted Sat, 09 August 2008 at 7:02 AM · edited Tue, 19 November 2024 at 2:51 PM

In Poser 7 I am trying to render a scene.  It is not that complex - 3 figs (2 M3s, 1 A3), few props.

During rendering I am getting this message, "There was a problem during rendering.... reduce rendering memory by.......... raising Adaption Threshold or ... smaller Bucket sizes."

Could not find any reference to Bucket Sized.  Where are these settings???

What is going on here???

Thanks

*(click on the image to view it full size)*

[menu] "Render" >>> "Render Settings" >>> "Firefly"(tab) >>> "Manual Settings" (button)

"Max bucket size" is second from the bottom.

Thanks, Dr Geep

I reduced the Max Bucket size from 64 to 32.  Is there any rule of thumb with this setting??

Should I also be fiddling with the Adaptive Bucket setting in General Preferences??

Thanks

No, just try using the largest value that does not cause an error.

Should I also be fiddling with the Adaptive Bucket setting in General Preferences??
No, not unless you get an error.
One should never "fiddle' with anything that one does not know anything about. 😄
(note to self - must learn how to play the fiddle)

Thanks

You're quite welcome.
Glad to help. ... ;=]

Uh-Oh

I did fiddle with the Adaptive Memory Size.   I put the Adaption Threshold back to .3750.

But I don't know what the Memory Buffer Limit was set at!!!!!  Can you tell me a value??

Thanks Doc, sorry for all the trouble.

If I ever get past the glitches, I think I could really enjoy this software.

Thanks

The default value is 32MB.

It's always a good idea to write down a value before you change it so you can set it back to the original value if something does not work properly after it's changed.
