Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 27 9:18 am)
It's probably a "normals forward" issue. We had a similar thread about Angelyna Wings
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2497498&page=1
If you use Poser 6 or Poser 7, you can easily turn on normals forward in the material room. Just click on the material room tab, and in the large "Poser Surface Node" put a check mark in the box at the bottom that says "normals forward". Do that for each material zone of the wings.
If you use Poser 5, the method is a bit more complicated in that you have to do it manually instead of just checking a box. The details of how to do that can be found in the thread above.

I'm having trouble posting in the pictures to show the difference, but I can at least get 1 snapshot in.
In Poser Pro, it was very much as how you said it was in the other thread for Angelya wings. For anyone else who lands on this thread, here is the process.
And viola, the wings will look as they are supposed to!
Glad that was the solution :)
Here is a script for Poser 6 that allows you to turn on normals forward for all material zones in the scene with just the click of a button.
I usually turn it on regardless of whether it's needed or not.

I have a dilemma with Sharky's Ultimate wings. I wrote Sharky about it weeks ago, but have not heard back. I'm hoping someone knows a fix so I can get back on track and effect such repairs in the future if this weird problem with any other figure/ prop happens again.
The problem is that the feathers on one side, lets say the left side will be bright as if I have a light on it, but the lower feathers are dark. And on the right wing, the opposite is true, the most of the feathers will be dark but the bottom row will be bright.
I've experienced it in Poser 6, 7 and Pro. I'm using this in an animation, so post work is not much of an option. Hopefully a sample picture is attached. These wings pose great and I like them more than the Angelya series. But if I can't get color consistency, I need to move on to something else. I've tryed adding in lots of lights which, of course, wrecks the scene a bit. And I've played with swapping UV and VU in the properties. I'm not sure what they do actually, but I was testing for a way to invert the map in a vain attempt to understand how the feather groups are being illuminated/ shaded.
So, is there something I can do to the CR file? I'm just above a novice at Poser but always willing to get under the hood.
I am open to very good wings that can be posed with multiple verticies, as I don't want to create a flat looking flap.
Many thanks for any insight you can offer.
