Make sure you arent saving the map in a distorted reolution. Heres a link to a tutorial for UVMapper. What you should do is map the lower circlet of the crown cylindrically, and map the headpiece with a planar map.

If not already done so you may like to give the different areas individual materials or groups. This will make it easier to separate out the parts to map

thanks both but i dont know how

First thing you should do is select all and then hit the / key on your keypad a few times. After this, select all and scale it out so it resembles what you know the shape should be. However, you should take what PhilC said to heart. Open the file in whatever program you made the crown in and assign each part a material or give each part a seperate name. Then in UVmapper select by group and move the part you want to have a seerate color. Lastly, check out the link that Blackhearted provided to get more ideas on what to do. This should get you started.

If you did not join or weld the different parts to your crown you should be able to select them in UVmapper by going to the edit menu and select by group. Then edit menu assign to material. I would recommend especially on complex models assigning materials in Poser using the grouping tool. This lets you see the sub object in 3d as opposed to a flattened out mesh in UVmapper. Then go into UVmapper and create your template.

Hee's a model of a dinosaur like creature. THe parts were seperated in UV Mapper for texturing. It's a Planar map as you'll note. Hope this helps you visualize what we mean

so if i move the map about it will still go to the model ok thanks dolly

Yes you have to save the model in UVmapper once your through creating the template. This applies the new UV coordinates to the model.

You asked about UV Mapping, so I included a link to a very comprehensive tutorial by Steve Cox in my answer to your question. If you would have bothered to check out the site and read the tutorial, all your questions would have been answered.
