tizjezzme ( ) posted Wed, 20 August 2008 at 9:19 PM

Wow I come here after a day and 1/2 .. and see u are all still having a ball ... I love it !!

Micturn: go for it.. upload it here too if you want! :-)
Love those 3 barbed wires!!

3 dino's ... awesome!  :) :) :)

Art -- such great submissions on the 3's challenge... beautiful images!

Laelia --- blushing .. shucks, thanks :-)  It wouldn't be as successful if it weren't for Piet.  :-)  (and dont argue with me pieter... )   them yellow tomatoes are so cool!  I have never seen them before!

Tom, lovely stones!  are you a jeweler?

Thanks to Jodie and Lynell .. thanks for spreading the word on this thread... its much appreciated! :)

Jodie -- 'three corns in a fountain!!" LOLOL Oh, I love it!!  I've never been able to grow corn.. must be lousy soil here for that.. i only managed ONE COB .. and i got a picture of that one cob being devoured by my Ben.. when he was in kindergarten.. he starts high school next week.  :)  That corn looks soooooooooooooo good!!!  Being on that low-carb diet, I call that carb on the cob  :)  groan
10 more days of the month .. and still i see it going strong... I have to be mushy again; for i feel it coming on .. so I'll say 'i love you guys" :)

Shari, you know as well as I do...who can predict what will be a real hit..in a gallery shot or something else.  In this "3's" challenge I thought at first, well, maybe I will try one.  Then, I come back later to see many pages of repsonses!  Wow is not appropriate since this is more than that.  Good Call, Shari...  Get mushy a bit..it is good for us  when of joy as this is.

This one is really lots of fun and is a challenge at the same time..good to have both together and really enjoy the company of others here.        Tom.

Yes I am one.  The diamonds were later put into a ring for a woman who had gained the old cuts from a grandmother and already had the third stone.  I am a jeweler by profession..whatever that might be worth.  She loved the ring with all three together, delivered same day as the photo was shot.

I've never seen a challenge with so many responses! Oké, it’s a accessible tread, but I think that’s the reason so many members get inspired to join the club. Watching the postings, there a lot of great images, but the comments and other reactions make it funny and successful! And still ten days to go! I could indeed post more, but its good to have a limit, otherwise we would be drowned in creativity!!!   I will watch next week what’s coming up! Thank to our coordinators for their great escort to lead everything in good shapes!! Cornelis

Art_Ramos ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2008 at 6:35 AM

I found this image in my collection of shots from vacation last week. I think it is more appropriate to this contest. If you would like to drop one of my other photos from the running, please do so. Thanks.

Excellent theme interpretation micturn!

Then there is the Cob Queen of the Twin Cities and the French madame and her yellow tomatoes! Good to see the creativity of the Agricultural sector at work.

Thanks to Tom the gentleman keeping the ladies occupied, I bet they are after your jewelery after learning you own half of America's diamonds.

Art_Ramos, I will have to see what the boss says about removing one of your entries. I will see what I can do just because you were such a good sport!

Marilyn! Welcome to the club and it's good to see you parttake. I hope you have fun with us.

Now for all of you who are inspired and finding it hard to keep the creativity under the lid, I will announce something in the next hour or so. I know Shari won't be here for a day, so "when the cat's away..."  **Watch this space...

OK, It's been 4 hours and I've been staring at the screen too long! What is the announcement?

Art_Ramos ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2008 at 3:09 PM

Quote - ~ THREE CORNS IN A FOUNTAIN!!! ~

I've gotta apologize in advance for this groaner.  My only explanation is that the song is stuck in my head!  (For those of you who wonder if I've lost it... the answer is YES and the song is "Three coins in a fountain".)

You'll be happy to know this is my third and last entry!  Now I am off to harvest more corn and pack it in the freezer.  "sigh"

I'm glad it wasn't a picture of someone's foot !!!  ;-)

odie ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2008 at 3:12 PM

OMG!!  lol..@ Art.  If it was a foot, it would be in a fountain of Epsom salts....

I kid-proofed my house but they STILL get in!!

busi2ness ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2008 at 3:22 PM

Ok, now here is something to be considered only by the brave amongst us: Waiting for new entries in this forum, especially when one has already uploaded 3 entries can be stressful. Thus, I recommend you take on a new challenge in between.

There is a forum with less rules but a more challenging concept: You have to photograph something exotic within a 100 miles from your home and upload. Don't load those photos here, but rather visit this thread and see if you can live up to the challenge.

What are you waiting for, see you back here soon.... :sneaky: :sneaky: :sneaky:

Goodness! Jodie, this word play with "foot" lends a new meaning to Tom's quote:

"Oh my, tonight  my wonderful wife will bring me home a foot long hotdog for supper...a Wednesday tradition.  That will do.    Tom."

tizjezzme ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2008 at 5:36 PM

LOL oh you guys, are FUNNY!  Art, I hope you still aren't sitting there watching your screen!!!  you crack me up!

I'll have to think of something to upload around here that's exotic... or was that erotic?  no, sorry.. Okay, I had to check again, you said Exotic!  Ok, that'll be a tough one for me.. living in Hooterville Minnesota, USA.  I'll see what I can do.  I'm just now heading for North Dakota to drop my son off to college... its more than 100 miles away, so nothing will qualify for it.  sigh

Thanks for keeping this going everyone; its been so fun.  LOL at the foot long thing, and how that took off like it did.  I'd say we're all on a roll here .. playing off each other in all directions.

................. when the cats away ... Pfft !!!  Watch it Big guy ... :)

tah tah till Sunday or so.  :-(  Miss you already.

Corn... the corn thing is spookie... just this morning , before leaving for work, I was rummaging in the veggie bin looking for what I would fix for dinner tonight. Right there were 4 of the best looking ears of corn and I remembered I got them to grill this last weekend and forgot. Corn was put on the menu for dinner. I used to love to walk through the corn and break off an ear - eat it right there in the field. Nothing sweeter!

Fried green tomatoes were a favorite of my mother-in-law's and I'd always fix them for her in the fall when I pulled up the plants to ready the garden for the winter. I'm not much on tomatoes unless they are in salsa or ketsup.  Those yellow tomatoes are really beautiful though!

Marilyn, ya can't eat lily pads as far as I know but if you could, yours would be the first I'd stuff in my mouth. They look great!

PJ, we would eat your grilled corn anytime...I will skip the fried tomatoes but my wife will love those.   I have also taken an ear in the field..no complaints on that one but it is different..and with something besides field corn is not bad at all.

The whole exotic thing is great.  I mean, really ... Piet lives in South Africa, for pity's sake!  That would be an amazing vacation for somebody from Seattle.  Everything in South Africa is exotic to me.  On the other hand, people come to Seattle from all over the WORLD to see our "exotic" landscapes.  And Tunde lives in New Zealand, which is totally amazing, and I've never been to Minnesota - Land of 10,000 lakes, right?  And Marilyn lives in the old hippie capital of the world, and Magali is in France, and Helle is in Denmark, and lord only knows how many are from England ... and I think ALL those places are exotic!

So ... get busy, everybody, and I'll start looking around too.  :)  Thanks for the link, Piet!

Oh My Gosh, you're absolutely right!  I'm psyched now!  If only I could get away from the massive amounts of garden produce coming in.  I might have an exotic squash out there!!  lol.  Speaking of exotic, don't forget - Shari said she lives in "hooterville"!  .....

I kid-proofed my house but they STILL get in!!

Hey, I live just down the road from the Governator, Arnold. That's got to mean something. LOL but it is amazing how many places we all represent. I have gotten invitations from all over the world. Too bad I have trouble coming up with gas money just to get to work! I'd love to photograph some of these places for myself and meet all these wonderful people face to face.

and Minnesota!? Land of my dreams...land of 10,000 lakes and I'd have to fish each and every one!

Just got back from Atlantic City NJ. This sand sculpture was in the lobby of Harrah's Hotel. As soon as I saw it...thought it'd make a cool entry in the the Power of 3 challenge.

There's the 3 (sevens) at the top (slot machine)
two of the DICE have the 3 side showing
There are 3 cards off to the right - King, Queen, Ace

Glad everyone is having a good time with this challenge!

Take it easy!

Hi Joe, I am glad you entered into the challenge, Great stuff too and good to see you saw the creative gap there with the 7's. Also 3 colors on the bottom part. Be sure to try the "exotic" thread once you have uploaded your other 2 entries.

Thank you to the other friends talking up a storm here, I have already seen the wonderful stuff you uploaded in the other thread.

Are Winos considered exotic? That's about all I have to photograph around here that isn't a supermarket or a train station... :-) Perhaps I could do 3 winos in one shot and call it tri-otic! :-)

For proper ladies who visit the city and encounter winos for the first time..yes, exotic like a war zone.   I got used to it and to panhandlers when working downtown in another city.  Now, none of that, just chubby teenagers in clothes I don't understand.  Well, I had my time like that..the clothes I mean.  And, PJ, I don't mean you are not proper but simply more used to the scene than a newcomer from the country outback might be.

Honestly, I find the wino scene more sad than exotic, as I imagine you do in your heart.       Tom.

Yikes..I started the "Location" thread and from that came this exotic one and I have only posted one image..a hawk portrait. And the hawk was sober (and exotic).  I must find something...like you, PJ, I am pressed to find exotic.   Could be the lighting..

This may not qualify..you let me know.  Three groups of feathers: Left wing Right wing Tail in the middle... full shot is at the link to my gallery.

To me, these are 3 key components to this bird making it back to the wild.  I know, the shot might be a stretch for you but it is not for me, having seen feasthers in one of these places repaired just so the creature could fly properly.

My magpie family. Year after year the mom and her babies live in my backyard. One or two babies, depending on the amount of food I guess. They love Simon's left overs. I use to feed them before my neighbors are awake. They don't like them, but I really do. To see them trying to annoy Simon is fun.he is totally cool, whatever fuss they make LOL. OK, maybe they don't sing beautiful, but they are dear to me anyway, and funny.

I find this collection of 3s full of wonderful shots. Hard to choose a favourite, and it is not necessary either. I enjoy them all.
