New texture map.. new morphs... She's a babe... She's headed for the pages of Sacred Truth... Can anybody help me think of a name for her?

MDibble ( ) posted Mon, 20 September 1999 at 9:01 PM

Assuming she's Japanese (or even Japanese-American), Miki Takamiya. Mike

Xurge ( ) posted Mon, 20 September 1999 at 9:31 PM

I don't know if you are into comics. But if you are she kind of looks like Shi when she is not with her samurai suit and armor. I think she looks great. You should name her Ana Ishikawa which is Shi's name. Good Luck Xurge

Maiomi comes to mind, I don't know why? She just looks like a Maiomi. Very nice!!!! Haven't finished the thesaurus yet so I haven't got any new words of praise. Happy rendering... Radart.

I've always favored Ceylon O'Shaunnesy, myself....hey, it could happen! Scarab

Newc ( ) posted Mon, 20 September 1999 at 10:09 PM

Just don't name her Webbie Tookay, like that Steven Stahlberg model. God, what an atrocity that was. I would research Japanese names and find one that meant something that I could identify with (like most English/American names have a basis in Greek, and that word has a meaning). I mean, you wouldn't want to give her a name that means "Your mother is an ape" or "One who consumes fecal matter", y'know? Then again....;-P Newc

Scarab-there's pleanty of room in the cell with me.... they just re-padded the walls.

tlaubach ( ) posted Mon, 20 September 1999 at 10:36 PM

Hmm.. That's a good idea Newc... Any idea where I can find out that kind of information?

Online Now!

How about Michiko Tanaka or Yukio Tanaka?

This is superb work. I've always liked the name Akemi ASAGIRI, which is the name of a friend of mine.

bloodsong ( ) posted Tue, 21 September 1999 at 7:56 AM

hey! connie chung! oh, wait... that one's taken, isnt it? :) she looks great! wonderful job.

tlaubach ( ) posted Tue, 21 September 1999 at 8:20 AM

Cool.. Some good ideas here.. I'll have to make a decision soon because her part is coming up... Sorry Diane (the other) I wasn't gonna post this texture because it's still got a lot of problems (really really terrible seams)... Perhaps if I get them fixed up...

RadArt ( ) posted Tue, 21 September 1999 at 11:50 AM

Mirimani sounds good too? I just saw an "old" trek film last week where young kirk got brainwashed and married a Mirimani. Has a nice tang. That name would suit her too. Of course Connie Cung is good too, (see two threads up), but you may wanna use Connie Ching to stay out of trouble.

Newc ( ) posted Tue, 21 September 1999 at 1:13 PM

Kaz is right, she looks more Chinese or Korean (like Sung Hi Lee) than Japanese. As for finding a 'meaningful' name, I suggest contacting someone who has an Asian version of 'The Ultimate Baby Name Book' (if there is an Asian version). You could also name her 'trouble' (in the original Chinese, of course) and give her a tattoo of the Chinese word for trouble, which is two women under one roof. Ikyoto-damned one

Tygerlander ( ) posted Tue, 21 September 1999 at 3:19 PM

I'm assuming he meant that that is what Ikyoto means. Seeing that I'm Chinese (sorta...I speak very crappy cantonese) how about Xiu Ling or Xiu Feung? These are the only two names I know off hand only because they're the chinese names that grandpa gave me and my sister =^) Xiu Ling means Little Bell (me) Xiu Feung means Little Phoenix (my sis) Unfortunately, there are a ton of words that sound a like =^/ Tina <--that's the name my parents gave me.

tlaubach ( ) posted Tue, 21 September 1999 at 3:27 PM

Hey! I like it... Tina it is then! No... wait... I do like Xui Feung... That's cool...

Tygerlander ( ) posted Tue, 21 September 1999 at 3:43 PM

uh oh...this is looking a bit familiar...the last time I offered a name suggestion, my name was used for a texture instead...LOL Seriously though, this was coincidental as I had begun researching my own culture and language for a fan fiction of mine. I'm also trying to encorporate my own (feeble) knowledge of Cantonese to write the words more like how we say it than how interpreters butcher it (or romantize it) Just becareful on the spelling. Xui as you have it is water. Tina PS, tlaublauch, your character looks a bit like one of my aunts. Forgot to mention that earlier. =^)

Ahnyo-asayo, I spent some time in Korea here's a few from the land of the morning calm! Love = sa-rang lust = saek-yok Hunter = Sa-nyang-gun young woman with no children = Ahgishe (SP?) Kam-sam-ni-da.....

bazookajoe ( ) posted Wed, 22 September 1999 at 10:36 AM

She definitely looks more Chinese. Most gwai-lo, gaigin, honkey-types can't tell the difference though. Tlaubach, if you live in a metropolitain area take a look in your phone book for some names. It boggles my mind sometimes how much trouble people have with telling the asian races apart. Japanese look as different from Chinese as the Italian do from the Irish (hair color aside). Then again most Asians can't tell a the Norwegians from the French by appearance alone.

Ming Dynasty. Yeah, that's it. Kate
