Hey Piet, Did someone null out my post containing two images on the top of page 12?

I'm not seeing either image at this time! Let me know. Thanks.

busi2ness ( ) posted Mon, 25 August 2008 at 3:20 AM

Art, it seems that the mod did remove it after your request when posting the 4th image. Please check to see which of the pics NOT selected you would like to (re)submit. Just make sure you have 3 submissions in total.

Ulla, your recent submission is super!

Even at work I see and hear things pertaining to 3: pick up a call after 3 rings...

This challenge has some side effects that need watching so as not to let them turn into obsessions. I find now whenever I go out I keep seeing things in groups of 3's. Be it 3 dogs getting taken for a walk to 3 busses parked at the terminal it just keeps happening. Need another challenge to cure this 3 thingy.

For some reason I have not been getting notification of additions to this thread, and have had to look through the last 6 full pages.  Some great entry's in there, its been a fantastic chalange this month.

Does anyone remember the song:
Knock three times on the cieling if you want me,
Twice on the pipes if the answer is NO.

Wasn't there another one like three steps to heaven as well.

Jeff there is a tick box under the reply area  " Notify me when someone replies"  Have you by mistake unticked this box?

JeffG7BRJ ( ) posted Mon, 25 August 2008 at 9:43 AM

No David, I always leave the box ticked, I believe some people have had problems with ebots before, I never have up til now, Its cured for now though as I got notification this time.  No problem I just had to read all the last 7 pages at once, that took up a few minutes that all.

It's been a very enjoyable challenge and thread, I like it as much as 'the picture below me' thread'.  I'm as pleased as eveybody else at the number of people that has taken part in it.  It's been good fun for all involved, and a fantastic start for Shari, as part of the RR team.

Fred255 ( ) posted Mon, 25 August 2008 at 9:59 AM

I know what the next forum challenge is going to be.  I also know that Shari has worked even harder to set it up.  So lets hope you will all join her in the challenge starting 1st September.

"Knock Three Times" was a song by Tony Orlando and Dawn

Don't know about the three steps to heaven, but there was "Gimme Three Steps' by Lynyrd Skynyrd

There was also

"Three Of A Perfect Pair" by King Crimson
"Three Times A Lady" by Lionel Richie

My favorite 3 is the "Three Laws Of Robotics" created by Science Fiction author Isaac Asimov.

and for you photographers out there... If you are in Vietnam, it is bad luck to take a photo with three people in it!

Managed to find what I was looking for, Three Steps to Heaven, by Eddie Cochran.

now there are three steps to heaven
just listen and you will plainly see
and as life travels on and things do go wrong
just follow steps one, two and three
step one, you find a girl you love
step two, she falls in love with you
step three, you kiss and hold her tightly
yeah that sure seems like heaven to me
the formula for heaven's very simply
just follow the rules and you will see
and as life travels on and things do go wrong
just follow steps one, two and three

MrsLubner ( ) posted Mon, 25 August 2008 at 7:03 PM

Don’t know why but I quit getting notices of “answers” to the forum challenge so I’m WAY behind here.

First, Tom, I do find it sad – the winos – but you gotta laugh too. I’ve worked in the very heart of downtown now for almost 20 years and they are really characters. The only time I walk a wide circle around them is one stops to up-chuck their last bottle on the sidewalk.

To address your post – Zowie! Those wing and tail tips are awesome! And definitely a 3 to me.

James, the 3 white pigeons are gorgeous and not only did you get three, you got them to stand in just the right places! Incredible!

Ralph49 – the 3 sticks of incense are great. The smoke curls very nicely. And what the heck is it on the escalator? Right off the street! Wow.

Marilyn, those kids look like they are having way too much fun. Better put a stop to it soon or they just might think they have to have fun all the time! That can get expensive in the long run. I know…that’s what happened to my kids!

Gun, great 3 magpies. They do create a stir – like blue jays do. I like their interaction here.

L8Rdaze – good heavens, the clovers are great and perfect for this challenge!

Claude – interesting concept on 3. Very enjoyable.

Mermaid – I do love that pov on your 3 flowers in the pond. Good find.

Hey, Jeff, I had the same problem with notifications and I always checked that box. Hopefully, when I leave this and check the box AGAIN I will start getting them. And, yes, I remember “knock 3 times on the ceiling…”

OK, I think I’m caught up. Phew! That took some time! You guys are really rolling with this!

It was mailed by Bill Clinton!  ;-)

It is funny that John McCain's office receives an actual envelope with white powder in it and not a word here. But, Barack Obama receives a "possible" threat and everybody is up in arms!?!?!?!

Evielouise, welcome back! I hope you had a good time and recharged your batteries.

micturn let me know if I can help with that problematic image which keeps evading being uploaded.
Thanks for reloading your image Art_Ramos.

Hats off to the ones persevering from the early on: PJ and Jeff! Jeff you should come back here regularly or you miss out if you wait for the ebots, lol.

There you have it: I wonder if we can bribe David to tell us what the next challenge will be... I will not tell Shari if he does.

JeffG7BRJ ( ) posted Wed, 27 August 2008 at 6:30 AM · edited Wed, 27 August 2008 at 6:31 AM

Micturn, I think it needs to be about 800 x800 pixels, that is what I resize mine to and it uploads OK.

Also less than 200k

auntietk ( ) posted Wed, 27 August 2008 at 9:20 AM

Micturn ... the dimensions aren't as important as the fact that it has to be less than 200k.  If you have trouble getting it that small and maintaining the image at somewhere around 600x800 or 768x1024 (ish) try downloading a free program called Irfanview.  Works like a charm!

Love the baby ducklings, Luis!  Sweet!
