Subject: Anyone DL Freebies from VAB3d in FreeStuff Section?

hamstergirl4444 ( ) posted Tue, 21 October 2008 at 11:31 PM · edited Sat, 08 February 2025 at 9:14 AM

I hope this is the correct place for this - a vendor by the name of VAB3d has begun posting freebies here - has anyone actually been able to download one?  This site also was offering these same freebies on ShareCG, but they were pulled when people complained.  We were not able to dl anything, and it just seemed like a ploy for our info.

I would appreciate any help on verifying this - however, if all is not right, they should not be on here either.   Thank you, hamstergirl4444

I got Rider Boots for Hiro3, but as a part of Advent Calendar on some German site last year. Those links in Freestuff either lead to nowhere, going round in circles through suspicious sites, or ask for way too much data for registering process that never gets completed (depending on browser I tried the links in). Very weird, very nasty.

Kristi - thank you.  I am not very familiar with this forum, and tend to get a bit ..... lost.  Hopefully now the right folks will see this posted.

Vilian - thank you too!  Your experience matches mine - but at least you got the boots!  On ShareCG it was the same thing, and yes, I was one of the people who complained.  That was why I wanted to check in here first before I cried "WOLF!" (or should that be ...."before I cried HAMSTER!?).  Hopefully admin here will send them packing too.- this is NOT in the spirit of Rendorosity's FreeStuff.

PS:  All Hail Ye Mighty Rodent Sisters....WOOHOOOOOOOOO!

Okay, here's the story on VAB3D.

In order to get to his freebies you have to sign up for a membership - the signup is rather odd but it does work - you sign up for a "free" account or something like that. Once you're a member the downloads work.

If you're not a member and click on the downloads then it just sends you to an ad.

Bobby* and I have both confirmed that this site does work and seems fairly above board. YMMV, of course, and we're not going to take responsibility if it turns out not to be. 😄

Also, rest assured that before anything goes up into Freestuff that at least one of us has checked out the site, signed on for any free memberships, downloaded the file, virus-scanned it, and make sure that it can be extracted and is bug-free. 😄

If we get complaints we investigate it, put items into review, email the provider of the items and take it from there.

Hope I've helped!

Yes Brynna, it does help - and it exactly what I was looking for - confirmation from Admin.  And it is reassuring to know how thoroughly each upload is checked out.   sigh Sometimes it feels like I only open my mouth to change feet....
Thank you everyone for participating.  (and let the downloading.....begin!)

This guy may have browser issues. I jumped through all the hoops, filled out a membership -- and got nothing but an endless sequence of ads. I'm using Firefox 3 on a Mac. My guess is s/he is using some odd coding that isn't working for everybody.....

The things we do to satisfy our addiction to freebies!  I'm  using FF3 also, only on a PC.  Getting sent to all those weird ads was what got me all jumpy in the first place.

Hmmmmmmm........maybe I should try firing up IE7 choke, gag, cough, cough.....nah!  I mean, its not like I'm starving for content, LOL!

And, I'm using FF3 and - once I signed up for the membership - didn't have any problems.

Go figure!

Well bust my britches, it went thru!  Not at all like the other times I have tried - maybe they finally figured out something was wrong?  Maybe its just me, but something still doesn't feel right, LOL!
One thing tho, that really bothers me, is that I went back and tried again, even tho I didn't feel right about the site in the first place!  That..is...scary - tells ya just how addicted I am to the Daz/Poser Universe....AND the never-ending search for the Ultimate Freebie - we know it exists, we're not sure where, but  we will dl until we find it!!
Thanks everybody - lets just leave it as a happy ending - I'll let you know when my computer explodes, okay?!

Hahaha! I think we'll know when your computer explodes; because there will be freebies flying all over the place. 😁 (:

lol hamstergirl, yeah the vab site is kinda differant, i have a pc and i generally use verizon/msn browser just cuz i find it to be very user friendly for me (not the greatest with computers yet lol).
i didnt encounter any ad loops, but i did have trouble registering at first but emailed the admin there and they manually created a free account for me and i had no truoble downloading or using the freebies there, seems safe so far. found out wh yi had trouble registering though, the way they have the street address setup is differant than here in the states, its street name then in the smaller box is the address number after the name. if that helps anyone =}}

ducks in case some any large freebies fly from hamsters runtime ;P

See!..SEE!!! What did I tell ya?!..... The things we put ourselves thru just to get another freebie!!!! AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! ...ahem....(get a grip hamstergirl)....uh, yeah - I did notice the "oddness" of the address setup.  Your pointing it out will probably help someone who stumbles across this thread.  BTW, I love the way you handled things - full steam ahead and straight to the source!

tip Flying Freebies from hamster runtimes are easily identified by the numerous nibbles along their edges.   Avoid these freebies at all costs - rodential runtimes are notorious for containing highly concentrated levels of empty seed shells AND dried carrot/apple bits - which could severely damage  your computer.....

Fett713 ( ) posted Wed, 29 October 2008 at 2:55 PM

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...thinks about the apple bits and goes to store for some apples....thnx now u made me hungrys lol =P
