Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 11 12:18 am)
Hi markschum,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I am aware of the clothed models that come with the Poser installation.
Some of them are older models that are not as easy to pose although and even though there are the new G4 models, I am looking for variety. The more the better.
I am mainly looking for additional clothed figures in the following categories:
Please let me know if you know of any such models.

Turbosquid.com has clothed figures, but if I remember right, they're not for Poser.
Poser works on a slightly different concept

no kidding! Clothed models may be pricey, because they cater to businesses and architectural viz mostly.

Hi schtumpy,
Thanks for the reminder. I knew there was a way to deal with the skin poking through the clothes, but I forgot how to deal with it.
I guess the only problem would be when the culprits are around the neck area or other such areas that you cannot hide because the neck or head would disappear or something. But I don't remember anything like that happening to me yet.
I'll try it out to hide the body parts that poke through.

Hi operaguy,
What I am trying to find now is male and female figures that are already clothed or that are quick and easy to clothe.
It is taking too long for me to get some of the figures that I have correctly clothed.
And now they have clothing magnets for the new figures and so on...
If the only thing that I had to do in life was to work on 3D figures then it would not be a problem, but there are other things to do each week :-)

if there are any freebie clothed figures at the 'squid, it doesn't matter if they're rigged,
in regard to c6pro animation. it's preferable that they be wavefront.obj models in
default (T) pose IMVHO. ask in carrara forum, and mark or one of the pros can tell
ya how easy it is. there's also the dosch 3d architectural set of clothed figures ($$$),
which aren't in the default pose, unfortunately. for those who aren't doing figure
animation.
Hi miss nancy, yes if one opens up the window of obtaining non-rigged figures with clothes, now you have a wider selection; would not even have to be "poser" explicit content as you point out, just as long as you can import it into Poser or Carrara .obj with materials.
One then has to factor back in the work of rigging the thing. I have not tried it in Poser or Carrara myself.

Hi,
I saw in TurboSquid where the artist was selling a clothed version and a nude version of his model.
Why don't you folks do that here? I would buy those packages each week.
You could even have packages consisting of one nude version and five or so different clothed versions of the same figure.
I'm sure that I'm not the only one who doesn't like the learning curve or the time involved, or the effort and frustration it takes to correctly clothe figures.

o.g. makes a good point, but c6pro has an "attach skeleton" command in the "animate" menu,
which obviates much of the tedium involved in rigging an unrigged wavefront.obj model IMVHO.
whether SM will include a similar command in poser 8, or whether SM will sell poser 8 to
autodesk are open questions at this point, but it's a buyer's market, now that the true
value of money is starting to filter down.
Hello,
Yea but doing weight map painting and setting up the rotation constraints in Carrara can be a time consuming ordeal.
At least that was my experience.
I figured out my problem with clothing my characters and I have a rythm now, so that is no longer a problem for me, as long as the clothing is created to conform correctly.
When I first started this thread I was going in circles with one clothing set that was not created to conform well. So I thought they were all like that.
And I figured out some other things along the way. So now I have quite a few correctly clothed figures saved in my library.
Thanks for all the input,

Hi,
Sometimes I don't have the time to correctly clothe the male and female models that I want to use in my animations and don't have the time to fix holes in the clothes, etc.
Does anyone here have male and female models that are already clothed and ready to be posed?
