Dear Forum, I want to thank you for all being here when we are not. I have been giving this forum a great deal of thought, while on a mission, once in a while i go off and this has been a big one. I'd really like to drive the level of this forum up a notch, and quite frankly, I dont know how to do it, I have been at trying to get sponsors, etc, and as of yet nothing. There are a bunch of ideas we can toss around but I was wondering if we could organize some kind of chat, where we can get as many of you in as we can, and take ideas one by one. This has been a bizarre and particularly difficult time for a few of us, over the last months, but it is time to simply move on. Please let me know. Syyd

Why don't you guys set up an IRC line? I personally don't use it, but IRC chats get a decent amount of publicity, and it gives users the ability to trade pics directly. I don't use IRC at all really, but it is worth a look. Ry

Well, I'll go into the chat right now. I'm bored, and the novelty of having a new scanner has worn off since I got it an hour ago, lol. Anyways, I don't know jack about IRC either, but the information is out there for sure, and half the websites in the world have IRC. Then again, if theres chat available right in renderosity, that kinda nulifies the need for an IRC. Anyhoo, off to chat. ry

I'm on the same time zone as Jordy so I have the same trouble. Another thing I'm having trouble with is some of the shortcut language some of you use. Being very old and decrebit I read some of the messages and when I have finished I haven't a clue what you were talking about. Can we make the Chatroom strictly plain English please? It's a lovely language.

I think I'm available for chat, as long as somebody emails me because I'm not online all the time. IRC works fine, data transfers are fast (depending on the server) and image swaps are easier. But I have been to the RR chatroom several times to find no one is there :-(

IRC was just a thought, but probably not the best idea at all. Rarely are there any people on the photo chat as it is (we are a relatively small community it would seem). As for photo transfers, it's fairly easy to post a jpg for someone to save right off the screen, though the quality in print leaves much to be desired, but this is just a naturally effective way to prevent stealing images for print use (if someone put something of mine on a website, I prolly wouldn't care seeing as since they have to resort to stealing a crappy quality art file, they probably don't have a wide fan base to begin with). I think what we need are tutorials, which I sent the beginnings of to Syyd and Alpha, a more active community, etc. One idea would be to go to the yahoo clubs and whatnot, and drop a posting in them asking people to check this place out. May only get a handful more people, but you never know what they might bring to a forum. More detailed links listings would be great as well. I don't know much about digital photography or photography links on the web, etc, but I'm sure many of us here do. Also, I think we should get some chocolate milk. Hmmm.... a can of Red Bull for me, please. I've actually put a suggestion in as both feedback and in the recent survey that RR put some kind of marker next to the [Chat] link at the top when someone is in the chat room. Because it's so hard to get people to meet at one time, I often have a window open with me just sitting in there which I check every couple of minutes. (I'm sad and lonely, y'know!)... Oh, and l8r = later. Ta for my two 'out-of date since decimalisation' old pennies.
