Subject: Regarding Clothing Combined with Conform and Dyamic

I just went on a creative binge and made some pretty cool clothing for Victoria 4.  I really like what I done so far.  It's just something a little simple, something fancy and need to do a little adding and a little tweeks there.

I just been thinking, is there any way to make a clothing conform and combine it with some dynamic...  The reason I'm asking because I remember SVDL doing a dress which was part conform and part dynamic and I also remember hearing that it's something of a hybrid.  I made some pants as shown here and while making it conform, its pants leg just tears just below the feet and the shin.  I just like to know how to make -- possibly the hip conform and make her legs and shin and down the pants leg dynamic.  So many possibilities but nowhere to turn.  If only I can get some pointers from SVDL or someone who knows.

Anyway, I made shorts, so it wouldn't be an problems conforming it.

Again, just a thought.  If someone knows, I'd love some suggestions.

I just changed casual_pants (included in P7) for Sydney into hybrid figure to check how it's going to look after simulation and must say that the result is not good (from original casual_pants I left waist and hip - the rest was acting as dynamic part). You can see it on the pictures

So if you still want to know how to make it I will explain (but this is going to be "short" method - without any dials for dynamic part (rots and trans)).

And this is something different. Instead of making hybrid use normal full conforming clothes (in the picture above casual_pants unchanged) and run simulation only for body parts you need. In that picture after conforming casual_pants to human figure I made 3 simulation for: -lShin, -lFoot and -rShin from casual_pants (-rFoot of casual_pants is without simulation - to see the difference) and the result is very good I hope.

Very informative.  I'm a little bit confused with the steps myself, but I shall get it one way or another...

So let me get this right, I can make the pants conform and I can pick what body part I want to simulate.  Hmm, I'll try that.  Never done it before, as I been so spoiled with dynamic clothing (which I like better than conforming).  I tried Dynamic Cloth so many times in one of my creations, and I have had great results in doing dresses, but like pants for example, the results are not so great.

Wow, I thought Hybrid was the deal of the day, oh well...

Thanks Adom

Well... yes you can but you are not gonna like the results in most cases.
If you clothify body part which is surrounded by others like chest or abdomen it will be one big "disaster".
This should be used to "loose ends" like sleves or the ending of trousers (don't know english name for that, sorry).

Well, I can truly say that the dynamic cloth worked with the pants I did for her -- I didn't do the conform and dynamic-ize the bottoms of the pants leg.  I went dynamic all the way, not forgetting to parent the hip, and constraining the hip of the cloth before simulating.

I'm still playing around this as WIP at this moment.

Thanks Adom for your help.  I appreciate it.

Make also SOFT DECORATED GROUP for the packets, seems and that rim at the bottom of the pants legs. I made a picture whit SOFT GROUP (left side) and whitout (right side) to compare.

You are right -full dynamic works fine with those pants - they are thin and "light" not like the jeans example of mine (where dynamic was not an option:)

Sure it can work.

Whatever part of the clothing is going to be dynamic should be all one group, and should not conform, otherwise you get double action. This can be done either by giving the dynamic part a name which is not part of the base figure's hierarchy, or by stripping all the influencing channels out of the appropriate actor's section in the CR2. As far as I know, you can have several dynamic parts per garment, although they have to be simulated separately of course.

Another point to be aware of is that the collision depth and offset figures should match the clearance between the conforming parts and the figure, or you'll tend to get an ugly looking "step" where they join.

Like EnglishBob said the body part  to simulate shouldn't be "conforming" anymore - the result will be better but not always. In the examples with casual_pants both shins and feet were unchanged (no chanages in pp2, everything was conformed to human figure). In the picture above you can see body part "chest" being simulated: in the top pictures "chest" is not chest any more  - pp2 was changed and it is not conformed (it is vissible on the top left picture), in the bottom one "chest" is chest (no changes to pp2, everything is conformed).

...and the result is the same :)

And here comes more "advanced" change in the "chest" body part (this time I left "rotate dials" in it so in the destination frame I could position it (new "chest") quite close to the human figure chest so the simulation is MUCH better.
