Why are you guys picking on Jen X. She is the staff here. Sure she has to make judgment calls from time to time, and occaisionally they are biased and unfair. But she's human no?

This site used to be a community of people sharing information about the product and the works they enjoy looking at, or the software they use. It is no longer that. It is entirely a commercial entity and the reason it exists is to fund merchants and site admins. This is a commercial reality.

Whatever is allowed is thought through and reflects the fears and sometimes greed of the PTB. That is how it is.

The PTB will only change rules if it is in their commercial interests to do so. That is their job. They cannot, by law, contravene this arrangement.

So be happy with what you have, don't take it out on Jen, and if you get trampled on by the corporation - well thats your tough luck.

I don't agree with this new policy shift (and it is new cause its one thing to proclaim a rule, another to enforce it. There are many laws that are in place, that are not enforced).  But frankly I don't read the forums anyways unless someone points out something in one.

This whole No commercial content only raised my interest cause it created so much heat.

But it will all die down, a lot of people will leave, and another site will take their money.

Wheather it turns out to be a commercial mistake - only time will tell, and then osity share holders can sue their board of directors

IMHO this site has lost it's luster because of too many rules. And the fact that once something is set in place, it's pretty much like banging your head against concrete trying to reason with the powers that be that their decisions are not always the best ones or in the real best interests of the site as a whole.

You need members to sell things, and with rigid rules people leave, not only members, but also vendors and that's shooting the company in the foot. But it's not my foot, so I don't know why i care so much, but I do.

This site is certainly not the fun and educational place it was when I first signed up.  That really disappoints and saddens me a great deal.

For the last few months I've been paying it forward and when I get back to work, next year I want to set up a fund that will help those who are in similar situations and have an otherwise healthy pet that needs a "simple" procedure such as a dental or a spay or neuter etc,

Yep! There is really nothing like a man who likes cats. I've actually broken up with guys who have not liked cats or have been allergic and wanted me to get rid of my cats.

Funny..... we've got someone who hardly ever posts in the forums coming to the defence of a mod. I know mods need to take thought decisions at times and they should take actions when needed, but if someone is going to defend a mods actions, I don't think I would take someone who has posted 56 times in over 6 years too serious.
