Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 4:12 am)
I can confirm the same on Mac. I cannot find how to make the main camera roll in Vue 7.
That and the first time I tried, Vue simply crashed on me when I selected the Rotation tab.
Also - click on the Focus of the camera (the little square in front of it) and then alternate between clicking on the Edit tab and the Measurement tab... strange things happen in that part of the interface. If I click Edit then Measurements, I can see the cube with 3 axis. If I click again Edit then Measurements, there is no cube and '???' displayed at the top of the tab. Clicking again Edit then Measurement brings back the cube.
Very odd.
On the other hand, you can click on the camera object in one of the 4 viewports and manually rotate it around the Z axis there.
wow - they took away that option? (camera level)
i'm in shock. wonder if they buried it somewhere and havent unveiled the "door" yet LOL. and i'll have V7 soon...
wow. still in shock.
support ticket time? hope they get that fixed very soon, cus i like moving my camera around in odd positions - and that has got to be (censored by myself)... wish i coulda been more help, and hope this gets resolved soon. =(

I turned off the "Always Keep Level" button and then I was able to roll the camera. I'm in Windows XP.

Here's an excerpt from the V7 User Manual:
"Always keep level ( ): if toggled, this option instructs Vue 7 to make sure that the camera is
always horizontal, resulting in a horizontal horizon. If (and only if) you deselect this option, you
can add roll to the camera. This can energize pictures on occasion. However, for general purposes, we recommend that you leave this option on."
So it would appear this behavior is as intended.
The problem is - on my version of Vue 7 , 'Always keep level' is replaced by 'Blur'.
I cannot find it (and I have been looking for it last night).
Edit: It must have been a late night - I just saw the option. The first highlighted item to the left of the panel. It looks like a sub panel but it is in reality 'Always keep level'.
I was able to Roll after unchecking it.
It's a fairly good example of the kind of inconsistencies in user interfaces that confuse people. You can find this kind of thing happening in most software if you look well enough.
If you look at most of the tabs, the left side icons are usually sub-tabs. Therefore, you don't pay attention to the highlighted top left icon since it is too easy to assume it means you are on the first sub tab.
I would not have tried to click on it if I didn't have a hint about it in Mazak's screenshot above. The tooltip showed me the way.
Quote - I take you aren't a V7 user? The Camera level option doesn't exist in V7
grins
seems i've been vindicated. ;)
no hard feelings... it took me over a week to find that option in 6 esprit. =D
It would make no sense to have that option in software up to a new release, and then remove it. Not when its a very convenient//handy tool.
Am very glad folks did manage to find it, and also glad they kept it in 7 LOL. (soon, my precious... soon)
