Subject: "Lorena" character turns black... why?

galactictuna ( ) posted Wed, 07 January 2009 at 9:30 PM · edited Wed, 14 August 2024 at 7:27 AM

Using V4 Base and the Morphs pack, when I inject the skin textures for the "Lorena" package made by Rhi-- she turns completely black in the preview window.  I can see her eyes, and when I render it turns out fine, so it is only confined to the preview.  Any ideas?? Please??

Thanks!

Two possiblities here.

  1. The material setup for Lorena has set the Diffuse value of the materials to zero, or the Diffuse color to black. You can check that in the Material room

  2. Your preview uses OpenGL hardware shading - if the Lorena shaders confuse the OpenGL shader engine, the image could turn out black. Switching off hardware shading should fix the problem.

hmmm, could be a couple of things.  First check the main diffuse channel.  It may be set to black and the Lorena texture is connected to the alternate diffuse instead.  If that is it just connect the main diffuse to the texture but make the value zero (so you can at least see texture in preview)

If not, check the rest of the channels for anything weird: specular, ambient, trans, bump.  Disconnect them all from whatever they are connected to and see if that makes a difference.

Maybe try a "Reload Textures" in the render menu I believe.

Well it turned out to be the diffuse value!  Thanks for the answers!!!
