i'm not a rabid supporter of isreal but both those peoples are caught between a rock and a hard place.
i'm going over to youtube in support of their free speech.  both sides should have their say at all times.
as to who's right and who's wrong...i know it's kinda cowardly of me, but i'm glad this isn't my problem

If I belived in praying they would go to the innocent people being harmed on both sides.

Unfortunately I know to little about this conflict but watching the news shows way more harm being done by one of the nations.

dave, before they delete this thread, just wanted to mention 2 things:

• there's no way we'll allow any nation to attack Israel (hamas is not a nation)
• israel has been criticised unfairly because we demand an higher standard of behaviour from nations than from terrorists

I just wanted to poke my head in to say that I'm watching this thread.  I don't want to delete it, but if it becomes a political debate, I will lock and move it.

I would desire to leave the debating to the IDF spokesmen on the Utube page, they're professional, and better qualified to do the job than I am, besides, debating politics is much like debating religion.  My only desire here is that as many people as possible should have a CHANCE to see that page.

Im sorry to say, this was a political debate from the first post when a plea was made to support the IDF.

I'm a christian (Catholic), and I sympathise with the Jewish Nation. The way I see it, Hamas wants to get the sympathy of the Global community. In reality, they are using innocent citizens/children as human shields to get the desired result, and I think it's apalling!  :(

These missiles are now reaching Ashkelon.  Soon they'll be able to reach my home in Bat-Yam.  When you have explosive warheads flying through your living room, I do believe that one has the right to get a wee bit upset.

Well, I probably should not post in this thread, but just wanted to say that I hope things will work out for you and your country, as you and yours have been a friend to me and mine for many years. And as far as Utube all sides should be allowed to present their arguments.

Even though I do support Israel and on the same hand feel sorry for all of the innocent palestinian civilians that are killed or get hurt, I still think this is way to off topic be in discussed here.

Frankly, when any member of our community is going through ANY kind of turmoil, we shouldn't be quick to want to lock the thread.  Why is David living through war any different than sick cats, being homeless (for the time being), or any of us being sick?   David is as much of a part of this community as anyone else.  He wasn't posting a for or against side (although, based on the fact that he lives in Israel, I'm gonna guess that he's not a fan of Hamas), he was pleading for freedom of speech, and for those of us who supported it to voice our opinions to YouTube.  The following posts have been mostly sympathetic to his current situation, which, at any minute, could be more hairy than any of us have ever seen.  So, no, I do not see this as a political debate, and haven't from post one.  If people had jumped on sides, ranting and railing, that would be a different matter.

David, as always, I hope your family keeps safe.

He was NOT asking for us to support the IDF. He was asking for support to get their
side out on Youtube for us to see. We've heard the rhetoric on the other side ad nauseum.
It becomes political only when he asks for our unqualified support, which he has NOT done.
Just the chance to view their side, which I happen to think is a fair request.

As a fellow humanbeing, I sincerely hope that you and your family will be safe dphoadley. I cannot imagine the horrors of living my life every day, under a threat of a rocket attack. As a humanbeing how ever, I am also very anguished, to see so many palestinians loose their lives. Every human death to me, is a tragedy. The pacifist in me doubts, that violence is the answer for a violent situation.This is a horrible tragedy that will breed more violence and terrorism in the future, I fear. I hope that I am wrong. Funny when governments decide to go to war it's never the elected officials that loose or have fear of loss it's always the innocent that looses. Judging by what I have read in regards to cease fire accords neither Hamas nor the government of Israel really cares who gets caught in the middle.

Nobody should be getting bombed, by any side. Bombs and missiles = indescriminate killers. Doesn't matter if it's a Qasan or Hellfire, any poor sod at the point of impact, irregardless of whether they are Joe Blow, a child or a psychopath, gets torn to hamburger.
Scumbags are quite happy to fire from civilian areas, to create bloodbaths when they get fired back at.
You cannot fire artillery and aerial ordinance without killing a lot more civilians than enemies, in an urban environment.
You also NEVER give the enemy what they want...this is what they want.
These conflicts are never the simple things either side wants to make them seem, or our idiot press/media who adore the butchery as it sells advertizing space.

Israel should reconsider the THEL technology.

Such tech could have frustrated the Hamas.

Energy supply (portable nuclear generators are what you'd really need, or a bank of super capacitors), weather (worsening dispersion and reflection) and range (dispersion) are problems for lasers here on Earth.
Theoretically they are the best as the problem is, you're facing swarms of dirt cheap, dumb weapons, Katyushas being the worst for swarms.

Rail gun technology is still problematical, but that's another good method.

Israel has devleoped specialist anti missile missiles to try and stop this problem ,forget name off hand
problem with AMMs is of course, limited number and cost, versus swarms of dirt cheap dumb fire missiles. Hence lasers, fast firing cheap to fire, is best, theoretically.

In spite of your dislike of cats, they are a milion times less controversial then war and politics, so don't get all huffy if people don't like you posting about it.

I was going to say something nice and in support of you and your people, but your callousnes has me really pissed now.

If you're not getting the sympathy that you think you should, it's mostly because of how you treat other people. When I posted about my kitty being sick, you posted in my gallery how you prefer dogs, how they're heck of a lot friendlier, or something to that effect - not very thoughtful or empathetic... If the rest of 'your people' are like you, maybe I've been symphatetic of the wrong side all along.

Thankfully, I know a lot more very nice representatives of 'your people', and know better then to judge a crate based on one bad apple. I guess lack of social skills and knowing how to treat people knows no racial, national or religious boundaries. You get what you give.
