Subject: Buyer beware (9MBi) - Problem Remedied

klown ( ) posted Tue, 20 January 2009 at 8:35 AM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 3:33 PM

Just a note to let you know I purchased an item from the vendor 9MBi here at Rendereosity during a Buy-One-Get-One Free 9Mbi had advertised on Renderosity. 9MBi had told me the credit would be applied directly to my account over at the vendors website outside of Renderosity.

After well over a month of unanswered emails to 9MBi and letters sent to Renderosity's purchasing department I was told the following:

*

There is always a chance there could be a legitimate reason for this, but the fact that I get a mailing from **9MBi'**s site 2 or 3 times a week suggests they have the ability to send and receive email, but choose to ignore them.

If there is a problem for some reason than I will offer my apologies, however if this is a deliberate attempt not to honor an offer made in good faith then I'm obligated to warn would-be purchasers of this vendors practice.

I've always had the best of service from them.

Have you tried 9mbi.2007@gmail.com ?

IsaoShi ( ) posted Tue, 20 January 2009 at 11:51 AM

I was also pleasantly surprised by the good service from 9mbi. Having made a purchase unaware of the 'buy one get one free' offer, I received an email asking me what I wanted, and a link to download my selected product shortly afterwards. This was a few months ago.

I would suspect foul play only as the last possibility -- he would be shooting himself in the foot to deliberately mess with the terms of his RMP offer.

But whatever the reason, the OP's message is still valid... whilst we may hope on a personal level that he's okay, if he's not responding to emails it's probably best to avoid purchasing from him for the time being.

Hi, klown,

Renderosity doesn't allow the posting of private messaging without the message writer's consent.
I understand your frustration in this matter, have you tried getting ahold of him via the email in his readme's?

I was unaware of the posting policy.

But yes I have tried the two emails that I have from the vendor. Also the two last site mail I have sent the vendor shows as unread, they are well over a month old.

momodot ( ) posted Tue, 20 January 2009 at 3:17 PM

That vendor has always given me top notch support... very timely. The vendor has always gone out of their way to honor freebie downloads for me even on minimal purchases. There may be IRW issues at play.

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Tue, 20 January 2009 at 7:06 PM

Never had any problems with him either...

Daymond42 ( ) posted Tue, 20 January 2009 at 9:28 PM

I've had nothing but great service from 9MBi actually. I'd gotten quite a few items during the buy one, get one free bit. Very prompt replies, from what I've seen...

I'd be more of a customer if 9MBi ever made Terai Yuki 2 stuff.. :> Billy-T seems to be my person for that, though.. :D

I had a problem with one product I purchased from 9mbi.  The file was corrupted.  I tried several times and several different methods to no avail.
9mbi worked with me and repacked the file in a different format and that did the trick.

I have absolutely no hesitation about recommending 9mbi to anyone based on my own experience.  I received excellent service, an excellent product and a freebie.  I have no complaints.

klown ( ) posted Wed, 21 January 2009 at 7:25 AM

Then for whatever reason I am being singled out by this vendor, even when renderosity tries to contact then on my behalf.
I presented no hostility to them, I purchased an item in good faith and was ignored there after,

Daidalos ( ) posted Wed, 21 January 2009 at 10:32 AM · edited Wed, 21 January 2009 at 10:45 AM

If not for the fact that I'm on the staff and it would be inappropriate for me to do so, I myself would have started a thread bitching to high heaven about this vendor quite sometime ago. Klown is not the only one who's been ignored in the past by this vendor. I myself have been. And quite frankly I suspect that has a whole lot to do with the fact that I am on staff here and have had to well deal with other issues relating to this vendor.

And you folks will have to forgive me, but to be blunt I don't care what their excuse for ignoring their customers, and several attempts made by customers at contacting them is either.

The fact is, there are customers who have purchased their products, those products had issues, and the vendor has simply ignored several emails and attempts to contact them to get the issue's fixed.

Thus leaving the consumer paying for a product they can't ever use, or paying for something they never get. That is in my own opinion inexcusable CSR. So I don't care if they produce the next hotest thing to ever hit poserdom, that vendors lost a customer as far as I'm concerned. Note the period.

Staunch supporter of 9mbi. Always helpful in a timely fashion and always accommodating.

I need to ask this just a "spose?" Have you checked your spam filters? Sometimes legitimate emails get caught by the client or server spam filters... has to do with the originating server domains and even unrelated links to or from that domain. I have had client royalty reports and stuff like that 'disappear' for such reasons. Could be... this guy has always bent over backwards to fix me up even when the share coming to him/her was a pitance.

JenX ( ) posted Wed, 21 January 2009 at 12:55 PM

I've sent a sitemail to 9mbi with a link to this thread, so hopefully, he/she will be in contact with you soon.

Second place I did check was the spam filter and his gmail account still sends me a page of wares every other day.
But emails I sent and the message system here have not been responded to.

I am not sure who your ISP is, but I know I had to fight with Comcast to stop Blacklisting my own domain email to myself. Turns out Comcast and several other ISPs have a new policy on SPAM. They are blocking it at the Mail Server Level, so if another user of my Domain Hosting Service is a Spammer, I also get blocked. The only way I found out about it is I email a report to my Comcast email from my Domain monthly and my Domain email got the notification of refusal with real complicated instructions to get off the list.

Several friends of mine work for a major corporation. Their email also was blocked, so their company did a little tit for tat and blocked all Comcast email at its Mail Servers. Makes contacting them a pain, when at work.

(This form of Filtering does not Filter based on email address, but on Mail routing locations.)

I am sure some have had issues and this may not be the case, but I for one am always willing to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. As well as another chance.

Maybe the Vendor will see this and contact you and the Renderosity Forum Coordinator and get you both straight.

I'm using gmail, my work ISP and my home ISP are different, neither one is Comcast.

Give them another chance.  They have always been good to me.

jjroland ( ) posted Wed, 21 January 2009 at 9:50 PM

9MBI is good as far as I'm concerned too.  This incident is unfortunate though, and spam filters don't really explain why site-mails go unanswered.
Even venders have lives though and as crappy as it is sometimes stuff comes up that prevents people from being able to give the attention to the internet that they might like to.  Hope it all gets worked out for you soon!

I would bet klown's original e-mails were getting blocked by 9mbi's ISP. The spam filters are getting ridiculous. My bank is in my address book with every address they use but they still get rejected by Yahoo from time to time. And Comcast is getting as bad as AOL when it comes to spam filters for another poster. They block so much now it isn't funny. Another guy I deal with can never get anything to me from his normal address even though it's in the book and should be safe, only his gmail.

9MBi,

I appreciate very much your getting back to me and rectifying this situation. If anyone knows how to edit my first post so I can restate that the problem has been remedied by the vendor I would be indebted.

9MBi; once again; thank you.
