Erm don't you need hardware to run software, including Poser???  O.o

MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 12.0GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 7770

This looked like a good deal to me.. quard core, with 4 gig of ram. 8 gig would be better, and you could probably add that within your budget.

I agree, but when you buy hardware, ask you the vendor " excuse me it's for poser" ? May be he have a large laught !!!

When i buy a computer it's when i have a real need ... and no for just one software ...

Have a reflexion before answer ...

There's a lot more traffic in the Poser Forum, and I'm sure thare are a lot of Poser users who have technical knowledge also! :)

There's nothing wrong with a member asking advice about what system they should get when buying another system. Infact I myself will be asking that very same question later this year hopefully.

You're really making a bigger deal out of his question than needs to be.  You don't like the post then ignore it...it's not really that hard.

And using text colors really does make it hard on the eyes for a lot of people, no one is trying to give you a hard time about that for no reason.

For my defense, when i've a question i always search, not only here, i search on share or runti** when i dont find here ...

I think we are too mature to know what and how search ... If not, too many threads are useless, sorry for theyr creators many peoples dont know read ...

We are in an adult world not in a "garderie" (in french it's the place who we keep the childrens ... )

If you're able to understand a little part of the TOS or a little part of the lines froms the oldests members against this, i'm ok i'm not welcome here ...

For the color, search what said " parler vertement" ...

Just as an aside, to whomever might be reading this...Just because the thread is in the forum doesn't make it your obligation to read it.  It's not even a requirement to read ANY threads.  However, if you feel a thread doesn't belong here, etc, please contact a staff member.  Bickering in-thread is not only a quick way to get to the "personal attacks" area of violating the TOS, but it's a great way to lose face in the community.

On the lighter side........thats cool about the "no obligation to read it", I'm only able to catch part of it anyway. Otherwise I would be in trouble.......

Anthanasius ( ) posted Wed, 04 February 2009 at 4:14 AM

Ok it's not an obligation ... But i read " help etc etc..."nothing else ...  when it's not an SOS ... As the view of the title someone need help ... But when you read it's just for hardware ... Nothing about Poser ( only the hard for render it's a thing who make laught ! )  ... I think this type of request have a great place on the common forum ... However who dont have read this thread cause the title ?

Back to the topic, anyone? :-)

I wouldn't suggest going to PC World for anything more complex than a USB lead, in my opinion - and even then, I'd expect to pay over the odds for it. :)

I went into my local store and asked for a demo of a printer I was interested in. They said they couldn't do it. If their service is so poor before you hand over your money, what must it be like afterwards?

Not having learned from that experience, I took along a friend who was looking for a new computer. I chose PC World reluctantly because they had a good deal advertised. When we got to the store, the good deal was, unsurprisingly perhaps, out of stock.

They have a reputation for running misleading TV adverts for about the same length of time it takes for a complaint to be processed by the Advertising Standards Association. I know, because I reported one of their more outrageous ones ("With this laptop you can surf the Web anywhere" - er, no, only where there's a wi-fi signal).

I wouldn't touch them with two ten-foot poles tied together. Your mileage may vary.

English Bob it's funny you should say that. I've heard similiar complaints about another company. I guess my brother is right. The best way to go is to find out the specifications you want, buy the hardware yourself, and build your own.

Back to the original question,  I just recently purchased a quad with 6Gigabytes of RAM.  I'm still using Poser 5 and to may surprise, all four cpus take a part in rendering the scene and it appears about 3 or  4 times faster than a single 2.0 Gigahertz CPU.  Other software that appears to take advantage of all four are Vue 5,  Carrara 5 Pro, and I think Terragen 2 Preview.  Jan

bagginsbill ( ) posted Wed, 04 February 2009 at 7:23 PM · edited Wed, 04 February 2009 at 7:25 PM

Uh - even single-threaded programs jump around from one core to the other.

The difference is at any given moment, it is only using one of them. It's not always the same one that's all.

You'll never see Poser 5 use 100% of all four cores, like Poser 7/Pro do.

If P5 is 3 times faster than on your old machine, P7/Pro would be 12 times faster.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Plutom ( ) posted Wed, 04 February 2009 at 7:48 PM

That is why I was sort of careful in my wording.  I noticed the fact that none of my CPU's were running 100 percent or even close (when I have my task manager activated).  Jan
