This is a model I'm making for my big Hub complex, this is just a lit render, later it will have a roughened (when I get proper UVMapping on it) fairly battered textures and hopefully a bit grubby.

This serviceable vehicle is meant for transporting this n that around the complex.

Thanks,

I've got to make some straps to hold the cargo on, as the guy who drives this knows the complex so well that he zoops around like a mad thing.

It's a pity there isn't a way to make straps that are poseable in Bryce... sigh

Shopping cart!-love it.
On a similar note does anyone know why space-age doors always have azig-zag sort of shape to the opening. I don't have a pic example to hand but i'm sure you know what I mean.

If you look at sci-fi doors, you'll see that by creating the zig-zag you are increasing the amount and strength of the seal and/or locking mechanism. Simply butting the two doors together means that a standard door is quite weak at the join.

Thanks UVDan, coming from you that's great.

Of course the sled isn't UVMapped yet, & I have plans for a big spotlight that's clamped to the front of the cab - handy for the pilot/driver to sear through darkness, and one or two other bits here and there.

Plus the corridor needs more bits, like big massive pipes and cables.

I had a similar need for flexible/poseable pipes (rather than straps) and Horo pointed me at a tutorial on his website.  It strikes me that if you flattened the metaballs in his tut you could end up with a poseable strap - worth a look?  http://www.horo.ch/raytracing/sys/index_en.html#DocTop

It might be if a model that worked only in Bryce was what I was going for, but as I want the model to work in other programs as well (heretic heretic!) then I need a method of strap making that is then poseable in other programs.

I can make straps - it's the poseable part that has me stumped.

Ah but I'm a heretic you see, I model in Wings3D.

Lol.

I texture in PhotoShop - and Bryce, I use lights I made for Bryce (made in both Bryce and Wings3D - Wings to place the spheres, then Bryce to edit those spheres into lights and to adjust the light settings in the Light Lab.)

Using those lights means I can render in both Bryce6 and Bryce5.5c and if I want to animate materials I may need B5.5c, as you don't get as good a result in B6.

And as animating some mats may well be the way I'm going with this...

(and another recent model):
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2768026

then 5.5 will be necessary.

for a previous animation it wasn't... but for a future one, it could well be just right... I forgot for a moment, I got so intense during this last animation that I forgot it was over... What a nice thought!

Oh sure I planned to do those but it does so slow the render times down so I'd planned to put those in last.

I was thinking about trying one with the robot hanging on for dear life... so to speak.

Dunno if I'll ever get round to doing anything with the other chap, I just seem to spend so much time just prodding it, shifting an edge loop here, tweaking it there... I'm not really happy with it, but I'm not sure how to improve it either.
