Subject: IMPORTING POSER FIGURES to VUE INFINITE - IS THERE A CHECK LIST or TUTORIAL?

johnr1969 ( ) posted Fri, 10 April 2009 at 4:40 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 4:39 PM

...apart from the one by Silverblade? Which is good but I am having more basic problems. I am having trouble with importing Poser Figures into Vue. Some figures don't appear - some without props. I have searched the forums and I see that:

  1. Vue should point to the directory that the Poser.exe file is located in the Vue Options panel, General Options tab, and select the Configure Poser Import button.

But I'm still having problems...

Is there a thread or tutorial any one can point me to that runs through the commmon problems/fixes?

Many Thanks

J

The missing props issue is an old one and it relates usually to Poser ahving the object files compressed which Vue doesn't like.
Open Poser and run the Uncompress script on your runtime or runtimes if you have many, resave your Poser scene after doing this and they will import into Vue fine.
When running the script remember to check the boxes that says "Delete original files after Uncompressing" otherwise it will keep seeing those.
Poser is a pain with this because even though you do this, each time you add new content it will compress them even if you've asked it not to in your prefs, so my suggestion is to do this regularly to avoid future issues.
I do it regular and have no issues with importing into Vue 6 or 7 Infinite.

Here's what I do, and it's never failed:

  1. set things up the way you want in Poser
  2. run the 'Collect Scene Inventory' script and choose the 'Copy All to Folder' option
  3. Select the folder to copy to, enter a filename and hit OK
  4. In Vue, navigate to this file for importing

It's that simple. The Collect Scene Inventory script copies all geometries and textures required and creates a .pz3 file. Occasionally, depending how your runtimes are configured, it will fail to locate a particular file (usually geometry files) but this doesn't seem to matter.

When importing into Vue, I turn off the resizing option. If it's not an animation, make sure you choose the single frame option when importing.

NB I thoroughly recommend SkinVue 7 if you don't already have it.

EDIT: And as thefixer says, .OBZ files are a no-no. Uncompress them.

Does anyone has a solution for importing a poserscene with dynamic hair from poser pro to vue infinite 7? Everytime I try that, Vue simply crashes.

regards,

Bopper.

Dynamic hair has never worked in Vue, I wouldn't waste your time if I were you.

I allways import my poser figures as obj, and I allways use that "collect scene" thing - all textures is placed in a folder inside vue's program folder.  Oh and I allways resize the textures - there is no need for a 4000x4000 on an bakground object. Human skin I keep at 1000x1000, all other I scale down to 512x512.
