Poser Technical F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 04 2:47 am)
Welcome to the Poser Technical Forum.
Where computer nerds can Pull out their slide rules and not get laughed at. Pocket protectors are not required. ;-)
This is the place you come to ask questions and share new ideas about using the internal file structure of Poser to push the program past it's normal limits.
New users are encouraged to read the FAQ sections here and on the Poser forum before asking questions.
Rigging is not so hard once you get the hang of it. These video tutorials may help:

Rigging Figures for Poser part 2 of 3 by PhilC
Rigging Figures for Poser part 3 of 3 by PhilC
Thanks! Got them all bookmarked.
I've seen a bit of your videos. I really don't know how to color code various parts, as you do. I'm not sure there's a way to do so in Maya or zBrush.
When I've brought a model into Poser as a full mesh, Poser has caused tears at random seams. I'm hoping that coding the various body parts will get around that.

Maya can do just about anything, so yeah... it's got to be in there somewhere! I'll check that out.Meanwhile, I just figured out the right pipeline to go from concept to finished, textured model. That's before the rigging part. I'm making these cool creatures and I'd really like to put them up for sale and see them in other people's art. It seems like a good way to make some extra money as I work toward my MFA in 3D Modeling.
Thanks again for all the help, Phil!

Hi Phil,I don't know if you were aware, but Caligari is giving Truespace away for free! Since you show very well how to use that as part of your pipeline, I decided to look the program up. I've downloaded it now, and plan to use it along with your videos when my current model is ready.
I do my UV mapping in Maya, so I think I won't need to do the UV Mapper stage.
Anyway, thanks again for the help.

I'm a 3D Modeler, and I've been doing some fun models using Maya and zBrush recently, including alien creatures. I would like to be able to sell these for Poser artists to use, but I have a terrible time trying to rig them within Poser. Is there anyone out there, good at rigging, who would be interested in a partnership, one in which I do the modeling and texturing, and you do the rigging for Poser? The idea would be to then put the models in the marketplace with a revenue split.
If this is the wrong thread, I apologize. It was the most appropriate one, as far as I could tell.
You can see some of my recent modeling in my dA gallery.
