Subject: March Challenge - FUTURE (IM)PERFECT

tresamie ( ) posted Sat, 14 March 2009 at 2:49 AM · edited Fri, 27 December 2024 at 9:37 PM

Hi everyone.  It's time for a new challenge!  Here is the snip from melikia's post in a new thread:

Future (im)Perfect....

Imagine a future (doesn't have to be far future) that, on the surface, appears perfect.  but, as we all know, even the most perfect -looking apple can hide a core that is rotten.  The challenge is to portray this "rot" beneath the surface of a future society/city/person/alien/ship - whatever you can come up with.  It can be political rot (hehehe), physical rot, or just the seedier side of life... whatever floats your boat ;)

Sound ok?

Thank you for all the votes, everyone... huuuuuuuuuuuuuuugs
~meli-kitty

This sounds very intriguing!  The challenge is for everyone, regardless of their creative tools.  Everyone can enter, whether they are using 2D, 3D, fractal, animation or any other software;  whether they are photographers, writers or even musicians.  The challenge arena is open to all.  Come and join in, test your creative tools against all the others!

The Challenge begins immediately and will close to entries in the middle of April.  I will give you a few days notice.  All entries will be to this thread or with a link to a larger image. Voting will begin then in the same thread.

You may enter an existing work if you like, but we would prefer to see a new work created for this challenge... it IS a challenge after all, lol!  You may enter more than one work, but remember that in the voting, each entry will be judged separately. If you choose to enter more than once, please NAME EACH OF YOUR ENTRIES!

Get creative!!

~Viv

Fractals will always amaze me!

agreement with thunderstone(how is it going?!:-), but this subject matter and subsequent challenge entries might b offensive in philosophy (tolerance of the free will of others is a unicorn, a mythical beautiful creature hunted and killed by humans;-) and maybe even in the TOS thang, as they r not happy n fluffy

I will do my best though, on both counts

Ok, well here is something I was working on, mind u, this is my subconscious painting and me putting meaning 2 it. So I thought what is the ultimate future, the afterlife. What is something I can't stand about this world I live in, this phrase, which in the legal realm is a false statement: Consent to sex is not consent to conceive.

A woman has the choice to continue or end a pregnancy, the man has no voice and yet he is financially liable for a moment they both chose. The edifice (the manface/tree) is the system that has grown rank and corrupt and has the righteousness to say it can not be changed. The rabbit had the misfortune of being born male in a certain forest (country) and is now without choice and enslaved for 18 years for being nice to someone. Legally extorted, his right to liberty, the pursuit of happiness, all of it, gone because of a woman taking away his choice, that rabbit lost his privelige to drive because of this and might go to jail, which is taxpayer money, even though the woman admitted she does need the money. It's about revenge.

A child needs to be the choice of both parents, nothing good can come of a child being born 2 people venting steam(as in no relationship). The argument that everyone falls back on is this 'Well, you did engage in sex, so yer guilty!'  This is the argument of a mentally retarded person using kindergarten justice. The only thing I am guilty of is the exact opposite of manslaughter.
The accidental creation of life, and that should have a seperate finite penalty due to sexual negligence, and yet the choice to continue the pregnancy is not mine, er the rabbits...;-)

Remember the radical says burn down the forest, the reactionary says kill the rabbits, everyone else doesn't care until it's them. We need to start caring so nothing overly rash is done.

I apologize fer the soapbox, but this is wrong and needs to be changed

Love ThunderStone's future apartment view!
TwoPynt's peach is marvelous! Who would ever think that a peach ready for the compost heap could be so beautiful!
Frikfoto's works are marvelous!
Arlivre's posting is wonderful, what a fantastic idea and display!
Dhama's dark futuristic scene is wonderfully done!
Geoegress's world is fabulous, though I can't say I'd like such massive lightning storms!!
Gossamyr's painting is excellent, as are his thoughts.
And lastly, Koosievantutte's take on the state of the world's finacial situation is perfect!
I just don't know how any can vote, each posting is so very excellent!

I have an entry. I hope I attach the file correctly. The name is Just Breath. Its a very crowded future, and skin disease is just a way of life.

tresamie ( ) posted Mon, 27 April 2009 at 12:04 AM

It's fantastic to see some new faces this month! There are lots of great entries, it will be hard to make decisions, but it's time to let the voting begin!  The voting will be in this thread, after this entry.  You get to choose your 3 favorite entries, giving each of them 3, 2 or 1 points.  Remember, you are choosing an entry, not an artist.  If someone has posted more than one entry, you need to indicate which is your choice.

Your vote should look something like this:

Future (IM) - "perfect" - 3 points
Days - "Ahead" - 2 points
Early - "Morn 2222" - 1 point

Feel free to nominate Honorable Mentions or make comments.
