Subject: Shader set up to add overlay with mask?

momodot ( ) posted Thu, 14 May 2009 at 10:44 AM · edited Wed, 12 February 2025 at 5:40 AM

I know this is basic stuff but can someone direct me to a simple explanation of the node set-up to apply 2nd skin clothes over a skin texture  using a mask? I just can never figure out the blender nodes. Is there a free pose or script for doing this?

Perfect. That is shown so simply. For tattoo you do a multiply? Anyway... this is what I want... solid either/or blending :) Thank you PhilC.

For tattoos, you will need a Color_math node to combine the image maps.

Nice. Thank you, Les.

Sixus1, nice tutorial, just one question, shouldn't the image map 5 (the shorts bump) be plugged into the input2 of the blender2 node?

Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.

Doh! I wrote it down but guess it popped off that screenie a little quicker than I should have.... I'll update that image asap. Duh... brain was ahead of the fingers on that one. -Les

I use a blend node , with each texture to one of the two color channels , and the mask to the blend value.  There may be other ways .
