Hello,
just curious about to know if someone obtained qood results with the fountain primitive.
Thanks to share your  tips.

Hi Holy... Fountain are good when using the blur object function and for distant visualization. The beter way is using a particle emitter, tha can use metaballs in the render.

Holly
I have been searching furiously for a .car file of a "Bouncing Balls"  little movie I made back in Carrara5?. (Using the fountain) It was to emulate that TV add (was it for Windows?) where some one is walking down a street and balls are falling from the sky and bouncing off the road.
(You would have been able to see all the settings from that .car file)

It was pretty easy--well I did it so it must be--by following the Help manual and doing the adjusting in the regular and advanced settings. I had a range of different size and colour balls raining down from the sky using the fountain.

PM me if you would like the (very small) little movie.

Brian
PS-----A bigger movie version is 139MB

Just a hint for anybody.( It may be better in more recent versions of Carrara?)

When bouncing the balls off the plane, they tend to sink half way in--which looks a bit odd---I gather the solution is to have an invisible duplicate of the plane just above the original and use that as the target for the bouncing items.

Brian
(And I have given up on trying to find my original .car file---I am really upset!)

 Thanks all,
I'm really talking about fountain primitive not the particle emitter :)

Sorry Holly
The primitive is just that.
Would any one use that other than in a distant background spot?
I use a gradient shader for interesting effect.
Brian
GKD---guess you found how to replace the triangles items for anything you want.

GKD--I did it again I guess, I meant for the Particle emitter.
PM me if you are interested in the emitter movie.

And Holly, I meant the Rainbow shader not the colour gradient! Brian

Hi Brian. if you want you can post your videos done in Carrara in my Carraralounge.com too, this way many users can see your work.

I did an experiment with metaballs and surface replicator over the fountain primitive, with blur adjustment : the result is quite similar to a water explosion!
Can't find a way to make a correct use of that fountain - supposed to be water.

**Brian : nice psychedelic FX ;)
