Magik1 ( ) posted Tue, 23 June 2009 at 1:38 AM · edited Fri, 08 November 2024 at 11:42 AM

Hi All

I'n totally new to Daz Studio, just bought version 3, though I have been useing Poser for a while now.

I'm loving DS up to now, so reliable compared to Poser! my main problem at the Mo is the horrible glowing eyea that are coming out on my renders, eaven in very dark shadow I just get these horrible glowing eyes...how do I stop this?

Many thanks all

Enter your Materials Tab and select those eyes. Check the Glossiness settings.
If they are set to 90% or less, then the eyes will appear to glow.
Normally I have them set to 95%~100%.

Glossiness affects highlight size, specular strength (and colour) affects how visible the highlights are, lighting model affects how they interact with the surface. Switching the lighting model to Glossy palstic and adjusting the Glossiness and perhaps the Specular strength should address the issue. Remember that most eyes have at least a couple of layers that need chnaging (and the Surface selection tool selects only the topmost of those).

Also check the Ambient settings (Surface tab).  That's what I normally use for the glowing-eye effect.

You can select the figure and in the surface tab change to Matte.
Often or most of the time it is set to plastic, so the skin has kind of a shine and the eyes glow.
