Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 09 3:46 am)
Hi
i use Cinema4D, using Lightwave OBJ Export for Poser. there where some bumps in the road at the first stage, however, i meanwhile find it relativly easy, given that CInema can sort and group all objects already, so, there is little to do in Poser after Import.
Cinema is priceworth as i think in comparison to other 3D Modelling programs like Bryce or Lightwave. However, thats probably a religous thing ;)....
Maxon currently provide some good sidegrade options for everyone using an other 3D MOdelling tool...

Cinema 4D + interPoser is a really strong combination for modeling and texturing Poser content. Pretty happy using them together here.
Silo and Modo are also worth considering. Keep in mind that the transition from NURBS to polygons can be jarring at first but will come to you eventually. For the work I do at SM, I use a combo of Silo, Modo and ZBrush. My co-worker uses Max and ZBrush. So really, anything that can get the job done and you find works well within your modeling style is the way to go.
Hello Mordikar,....
Well, if you REALLY want to experiement, you can try the Windows 7 Release Candidate - good until March of 2010.
check it out here:

I use Rhino 4 currently and been using it since #2, v4 works perfeclty well with Vista 64 bit ultimate.
Rhino, like all NURBS modellers does produce very polygon heavy files. I don't mind that, I love the way Rhino works :)
Vista works very well and stable IF you have a recent PC AND you turn UAC off AND have bothered ot actually update it properly, yeesh!!
Most of the complainers are like virigins talking about sex...
Moment of Inspiration is a cheaper alternate to Rhino by the way :)
Zbrush is amazing but has the foulest, stupidest UI EVER!!!, ugh. Try 3DCoat instead, also cheaper ;)
Check my gallery, Rhino and Poser imported ot Vue, all in VIsta for past year+ (and some Mojoworld too)

ALL my apps work fine under vista, only things I had issues were was UVMAPPER (had to get update) and a very old plugin for Photoshop (Genesis, simple work around for it)

A trick I had back in my old days was to untrim any surfaces I could and then mesh those using the advanced features with Refine Mesh off. It helps a bunch in keeping the polygons low. There was also an option about flat planes....I think I always had that checekd (can't recall now). Anyway, if you untrim your surfaces and make a mesh, you can re-connect them in your polygon app much more cleanly and with lower poly counts.

Hi,
It's been probably 3 years or more since i did any artwork. I used to use Rhino2 to make content for poser ... (i used poser 4 at the stime) ok yeah it's been a long time indeed. Well i got the urge to make something and found out (the hard way) that rhino does NOT like vista 64 .. (then again does anyone? I hate this o/s with a violent passion and am eagerly awaiting the final release of windows 7 but even it might not run rhino properly)
So what's good these days for modling content for poser?
