Subject: Can I make like this character?

smalll ( ) posted Wed, 08 July 2009 at 5:41 AM · edited Thu, 09 January 2025 at 12:55 AM

Hi.
First, My English is poor.
I'm so sorry.
I want to make a character.
You can see red arrow in the image.

It is my goal.
It is join sword and shoulder. (blue arrow)
I think it is very difficult.
I think it can be joined only one part.
Do you have a idea?

You want to have a cable that runs between the sword and the character's shoulder?  It sounds to me like you want two figures:
Character without the sword
Sword + cables, with Inverse Kinematics chains for the cables; you can make the parent of the ends of the IK chain to be the character's shoulder, and I think this will work the way you want.

Have you taken this to the Setup Room and added bones?

You need to learn how to rig a model in Poser and turn it from a prop into a Figure (like your character is a figure).  This is done by adding bones in the Setup Room.  You should try to watch these videos on how to do this, even though they are in English, the whole process is demonstrated on screen.

You are also starting with a fairly advanced project.  You should probably try to start with something simpler, like just a cable.  Once you understand how to rig an easy project, like a simple cable, you can build on that and try to do something harder, like if the cable is connected to another object like your sword.  The last step would be to add Inverse Kinematics - for a straight cable, like what you have, that is not very hard, but the model has to be rigged first.

Also, are you able to translate the text in my image above?  I didn't think of that.  My handwriting is not very good.

Thank you pjz99.
I think that I understood the video tutorial. (Maybe....)
Do you think there is any problem in my figure(sword)?
I don't know where is the problem.
Can you tell me more?

And I offer you my heartfelt thanks for your favor.

It looks like you have the "sword" as a child to "chain01". I think it will work much better if you have "sword" first and the rest of the body parts after it. I'll take a look at the file you have and see if there is anything else that could be changed.

I took a quick look at your sword and did not see any problems.  I would suggest that you have the chain straight like you had in version 3 instead of bent like it is in you last version, 4.  It will make posing the chain easier. Your next step would be to add the IK chain using the Hierarchy editor.

Thank you!
I tried.

But, I don't know how can I link to right shoulder.

Can you help me more please?

I offer you my heartfelt thanks for your favor.

You can turn on you IK chain by going to Figure on the main menu choosing Use Inverse Kinematics and then selecting the IK chain.
After that you can position Chain10 where you want it.
Finally you can parent Chain10 to the man's arm so when the man's arm is moved the chain will be dragged along.
