Have you guys by any chance ran into the following message when installing V4.2 Base and the morphs (pls see attached)?... and if so, is there a workaround?

I sent the note to DAZ technical team on Monday and then again yesterday, but I have not goetten any response from them..... a bit disappointed I have to say!!

anyways, your advise would be greatly appreciated..... :c)

BTW, I am running poser pro under Vista 64 bit OS....

Cheers

Are you installing to an external runtime? V4 and all the gen 4 figures need to be installed into Poser's runtime.

Also, Vista has problems with programs being in the Program files folder (imagine that). I always install all programs to the root directory.

Sorry, I see now you were trying to install to your PoserPro directory. It's probably the Vista Program Files fiasco. I had no trouble installing V4.

Actually, if you have Poser 7 or PoserPro, then V4/A4/G4 and M4/H4 can be installed in external runtimes just fine. The installer is looking for a file called Poser.exe and PoserPro has PoserPro.exe so that's why it says it can't find the executable. To get around this, when you run the installer, choose the DAZ|Studio option, it installs the exact same Poser files, it just doesn't look for a Poser.exe, it lets you browse to where you want to install V4.2, which would be your PoserPro folder.

Yeah, I have separate M4 and V4 runtimes. So long as any additional morph packs (like the Morphs++, creatures, muscles, A4 and G4 for example) get installed to the V4 runtime and V4 is initialised, it runs hunky dory. Same with M4 stuff (morphs++, H4).
The only problem I had was when I tried something out using P6 and forget about the separate runtimes. Then M4 and V4 took about 15 minutes to load!  :)

bagginsbill ( ) posted Thu, 16 July 2009 at 8:47 PM

Anyway, the answer is that the Daz installer wants to verify that there is a file in there called poser.exe. Instead, you have PoserPro.exe.

Just create a file called poser.exe. It doesn't have to be the poser executable - any file with that name in that folder will make the installer work.

Sometimes I wonder why I even post in other forums when I get all the answers from here!!!!

Raven, I did what you suggested and it worked like a gem!! THANK YOU very much....

BTW, in V4.2 sometimes I see -Morphs | Partial (Hidden).... as well as "Injection Channels"  menus that have no dials...appreciate your advice on how to make use of them....

Thanks for the heads up bagginsbill..... should I be re-installing V4.2 again?

Cheers

Reinstall is unnecessary since you already performed the workaround.  Those no dials are for additional packs you must purchase and install.  They are just not populated at the moment.

vxg139 ( ) posted Thu, 16 July 2009 at 9:21 PM

Can you pls send me the link for purchasing these morphs? I thought there  were only V4.2 morph++ and V4.2 muscle morphs!!

BTW, does V4 have foot morphs similar to V3 (that changes toes to hose?)..

That's the link to the V4 creature creator morphs. There is a morph to make V4 only have 2 toes, to get different feet, eg hooves or paws, then you would also need the V4 creature creator add-on set, [ http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/victoria-4-2?item=5281&spmeta=rl&_m=d](http://www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/-/victoria-4-2?item=5281&spmeta=rl&_m=d)

hooves != hose

you need to inject the morphs to figure first. They can be found in poses under "daz victoria 4" folder (or something like that).

oops...must've misread your post. not enough coffee this morning yet..

hborre ( ) posted Fri, 17 July 2009 at 6:49 AM

I am pressed to time right now but I'll try to give this to you in a nutshell.  There are 2 flavors of pose injections to select from:
1 - you could inject all the Creature morphs at once which will create all the morph dials in the character properties under Creature.
2 - individual morphs which may either the affected body part immediately or create a morph dial for that particular part.  As applied to the Creature pack, dials are created.  (I don't have Poser running to verify this, sorry).

To find the hooves morph dial, select V4 body, look under creature morphs menu and navigate to legs.  The dial should be located there.  Hopefully, someone can verify this workflow.  I am currently rushing to work.  Word of caution,  at least on my system, V4 Morphs++ and Creature Morphs do not play nice when the entire packages are injected together.  Inject the packages individually or limit your selections when creating your character.

The hooves and paws in the add-on set are conforming figures, like clothing is.

To get a V4 with hooves, follow these steps.
Load your V4, and then in your go to the FiguresDAZ CharactersV4 Creature Creator folder and load the hooved legs. Conform the legs to V4.
Next, go to the PoseDAZ's Victoria 4Add-OnsCreature Creator folder and with V4 selected, apply the '!Prep V4 Legs' pose. This will make V4's legs invisible. After that, apply a Magnetize pose to the legs to ensure they fit properly
Then you can apply a texture to V4, and finally go to the PoseDAZ's Victoria 4Add-OnsMAT Creature Creator and apply the mat pose to the legs.
A bit of a palaver I know, but there we go :)

Here's a couple of V4's, one with hooves, one with paws. Also, the legs have a couple of morphs. For example, there is a morph on the hooves set of legs to go from smooth hooves to cloven hooves.

hborre ( ) posted Fri, 17 July 2009 at 10:54 AM

Ah, tricky.  Raven, I haven't had a chance to play with these new add-ons; thanks for the enlightenment.

No problem. There's also the horns and tail to play with too! :)

As raven pointed out, the hooves and paws are conforming figures.... which I found out after the purchase....

What I am looking for is something similar to the foot morph dials in V3 (such as toes to hose)...

as usual, I am grateful for your insights/advice....

Cheers
