Hi

I'm trying to make my character hold a cup.  I want the cup to move with her arm.  I change parent on cup to characters left hand.  When I do this the cup disappears from view.

What am I doing wrong?  I have had no problems with parents thus far.

This is in DS btw

Thanks!

Howdy.

You click on the cup, change parent to the hand that it is with (Right or left-I always double check because I am swiss cheese memory like that) and click okay.  When it disappears...  (Which is odd, I've used DS for years now and it's never happened to me) is it still showing the eye to the right of the cup in your scene tree listing?  OR is the eye closed?

You may need to"see" where the cup went to in XYZ space.  Zoom out or change your camera view. Click on the cup obj  in the Scene tab hierarchy and move it into the correct position (translate x, y z) so it's where you want it resting in the hand..

Once done, it should stay put.

Additionally, if you are working on an animation, make sure you are on the first frame when you do the above.

Click the triangle button at the top-right of the Scene palette and make sure Parent items in place is ticked before parenting., or that the Parent in place option is ticked in the Change parent dialogue if you do it that way

Well, dang, I've had that happen once or twice and didn't know why! .

Images that run around in my head eventually end up in my gallery.
