Dear friend:

Why render Poser 7 characters in Vue?

Thanks a lot.

melikia ( ) posted Tue, 04 August 2009 at 12:57 PM

easy:  Vue renders faster, Vue renders better, Vue is the bomb.  ;)

Vue's lighting system is also vastly superior to and WAY easier to use than Poser's, and you can get some amazing images out of it - in almost no time at all.

Err, yea, what Melikia said!!
She did forget the water though, water really rocks in Vue compared to Poser!

oh, I'd like to add - Vue's interface is more intuitive than Poser's.  Take the material editors in each program for instance - Vue's helps to guide you in the proper direction.  Poser's is a complete nightmare beyond the first 5 to 10 nodes you connect., you end up with spaghetti noodles and no sauce.

Vue gives you fetuccini pasta, homemade sauce that's been simmering for hours, and even meatballs. ;)

mmmm... now i'm hungry.

takes a bite outa Vue, cus poser is kinda bland

Wow, Melikia, nice to see such enthusiasm! My mouth would be watering if I hadn't had dinner already!
As for the Poser material room, what a dread! Funny how I can find my way around the Vue function editor, and stay away from the advanced Poser  material room.
I would put it like this:
The Poser material room is like overcooked instant noodles without the chopsticks, how about it?

melikia ( ) posted Tue, 04 August 2009 at 3:12 PM

OOOO good analogy... those pre-packaged "ramen" noodles - aren't those HORRID when they get overcooked?  i cant even eat them now since I watched "The Ramen Girl".  now THERE was some Ramen!!!

I attempt now and then to learn more about Poser's material room... but I swear, i get lost after placing my 5th or 6th node in place.  I'd rather get lost for hours in Vue's function editor - and find new levels like I did with the water editor the other day LOL.

Its SO INTUITIVE.  Once I got over my fear of Vue's material editor, my poser figures suddenly became lifelike.  I recently got to pat myself on the back for helping a friend figure out the basics of the material editor  (as pertains to human flesh - and I did it without looking at Vue), and she even dove into the function editor a few times.... the results were vastly superior to the things she had produced in there up til that point (the ones without using SkinVue, that is LOL) - even the hair looked more lifelike and less like molded plastic (I do wish Vue talked better with Poser on that aspect... yeesh)

She learned using SkinVue to begin with.  I started out with NO skinvue and no ability to use it (Vue 6 Esprit LOL)... I had to learn rather quickly how to get the results others were able to achieve much easier.  I do love to use SkinVue now - I sometimes start with that, and then tweak the materials to suit me in the material editor/function editor.  I recently managed to add water droplets to skin using transparency & displacement.  Unfortunately, I cant get it to render out very well.... It'll go, but it takes literally foreeeeever, so I end up getting frustrated and tell it to stop.

Boy, I cant wait til I can afford a more powerful machine (although this one is still keeping up)... cus then, I can have my fettuccine, sauce, and meatballs - all on a golden platter, complete with freshly baked garlic bread.  grins

Well I could show one of my big multi-character scenes but...since Poser usually does portrait work...
this is a Vue portrait render :)
sorry for size!

I asked this question a few months back I wish someone told me in the 1st place that it was possible. a poser animation that was taking 2 hours a frame to render , took less than 10 minutes on Vue at much higher resolution and looked far superior. Poser to me seems pretty useless for doing anything other than set up characters and move them into Vue. However the poser camera controls are a lot easier to use my vue ones keep mucking up. (but this is prob just me!)  ... see my thread!

However managed to get a poser character in Cinema 4D and looks far better than poser and Vue and rendered quicker. Beside scenery which I have not tried in C4D the preview render looks as good as Vue and can take seconds! However textures, realism, lighting etc blows vue out of the water when rendering at any detail in the limited use i have had out of the program. Would love to render a Vue scene in it.
