 Looks good!

Personally I would make his lips smaller, they're too soft/feminine to my tastes and there's something generally soft about his head. Can't really explain it, it's the same as what has always bothered me about Apollo.

But a very nice resculpt! Can't wait to see the finished result. And I certainly hope he'll still work with his rigging.

I think I know what you mean, its sort of doughy. See if I can get some more shape to it, not so even.

I don´t like his face that much, but thats just my opinion/ taste in men ;-), but his body looks great so far.

 I agree with Trekkie about deceasing the size of the mouth.  I think the brow needs to be a bit lower and the tip of the chin needs to be a bit higher.

Long time no see! This looks like great work. I personally think that Ryan and Alyson have a very strange collar bone, and are weak/indistinct in the upper arm (which is also short). Their heads seem large to me for their bodies. Your resculpture is an improvement.

Nothing wrong proportionatly IMO. Looking good. Maybe his head could stand to be a bit wider, but all in all looks good to me.

The skull is definitely too high, and it leans back somehow, giving him an almost Conehead look.

What you've done is pretty amazing, but how does it impact the clothing that comes with Ryan? Would all of that have to be rebuilt as well to be useful with this version?

lkendall:  Hi back at ya. Ya I been trying to wean myself away from Poser and 3D, at least enough that it is less of an addiction and in better perspective with my real life.  
The arms in general are too short and there is something strange with Ryans shins. But he is not hard to work with for sculpting, a few things I didn't like, like the star formations on his thighs. But other parts were very good. His arms (especially the back arms) Have some great topology for morphing. The neck too is really nice. Abs are good, and the back (except for the shoulderblades) is really put together well for musculature.

Hi Sean, Yes he has a cone head right now :) stuff I need to work out. Not bad for a couple hours of work though. I dont know about clothes or even the rig right now, I tried to keep the group boundaries in the same places for the rig. I scaled the arms and legs some differently befor I started sculpting so that would be part of the pose file. I think as long as the clothing is conforming you should be able to apply the FBM to them and have them fit. should be pretty simple with Wardrobe wizard.

Trying right now to get some cloverstyle nipple clamps finished. I was supposed to have them done already, but got involved with exploring P8.  :)

I have had a few months with a lot of other worries, and a high apathy index. I did a lot of reading to relax. Poser 8 attracted my attention.

Not that I understand all of the issues with this, but how is the looping with Alyson/Ryan. I have seen how doing it right improved your work.

Most of the male and female figures (V4/M4, G2, and now Alyson/Ryan) have very unrealistic upper arms (shoulder, triceps, and bisceps morphs). It is almost impossible to pose these figures with their arms raise over their heads (the shoulder, axillae, and upper arms look like twisted plastic toys). I don't think any of them have vertebrae morphs for leaner people. Someday, I will have to learn how to model morphs, and develope some for the deficiencies that bug me but apparently no one else.

I guess I should also learn how to make magnets so I can make arms longer or shorter if I want to (and use them on the cloths as well). I just cannot get my mind around those magnets after all this time and effort (since Poser 5).

Looping, well the arms are good maybe a bit more for the bicep. The abs are good. The back is good as well except for the shoulderblades, those need alot of work. The neck is good. The shoulders blades, legs and feet need redone IMHO.

Much of the legs are fine except for some poles that have way too many edges (6) coming together on a single point,and they are in bad spots.  The calves need a little work. The feet are a mess.

On the torso there are those three (actually 4 but you only see 3) little finger muscles that flow back into the lats (I have forgotten what they are called.) Those also need redone, what is in there now creates numerous 3 and 5 edge poles.

One spot on the underside of the elbo has a six edge pole, that needs resolved. Definitely need some better edge looping around the shoulder, armpit, bicep area, the way it is you cannot get any  definition between them.

All in all there is a massive number of 3,5, and 6 edge poles most of them are completely unecessary and cause multiple problems not only for morphing and mesh flow but also for mesh deformation when rigging.

This is just my opinion, and I am by no means a master mesh builder.

Tendons? Those aren't actually muscles.

With all of those excess poles, it sounds like a lot of work to correct. I think that these figures might be made more for dressing in cloths than for lying around the pool or frolicking at the nude beach.

I believe you are referring to the Serratus anterior muscle. Looking in my anatomy atlas, there are five bands to the Serratus muscle and they correspond to underlying ribs. The top band and the bottom band mostly underlie other muscles. So, depending on muscular development, and how lean a person is, one will see the middle three of these bands, or maybe even a little bit of the bottom band. I think the top band is too high in the armpit, and looks too much like part of the Pectoral major muscle to try and model it.

Whats with individually rigging each joint of all the toes? I can imagine the time and effort it took to do that, but I cannot imagine anyone doing an animation of Alyson playing the piano with those toes. To realistically pose a chimpanzie one would need all the toes jointed, but there is very little use for so much flexability in the toes of these models.

Have you had a chance to try out the new joint rigging features?

Yes Seratus Anterior those are the ones.  :)

I was able to play around with the new rigging features yes, just on Ryan. I am pumped about those! Though they are a little rough right now the new rigging options are going to change Poser figures for good and very much for the better.

Just being able to add extra falloff mat spheres is incredibly usefull, I cant tell you how many times I have wished I could add an extra sphere in the past.

The dependent parameters editor will also be very usefull I can easily hook up body handles now to be controled by other bones automatically. Also the ability to use a graph to control how the parameter is implemented, will be very useful for soft body morphing like the way the calf squishes out when the shin is bent against the thigh.  With the graph you can tell the morph not to start untill the shin is bent to a certain angle etc.

I believe I read somewhere that Poser is used in some medical schools, books or videos, or something. Anyway I think it was a request.

I don't doubt you, but then why add an extra joint in each finger? That is very anatomically incorrect. I am puzzled to say the least.

It seems to me he isn't built for that arms out position.  
I don't thing the rib cage to the sternum is that perfect an arch.  

I think the best Ryan I've seen so far, was the Snape character somewhere here in the forum.
