Is there a utility or an easy way that will convert a p4 texture map to one that can be used on the Vicky models?????????

Any decent graphics program would suffice (Photoshop, PaintShopPro, etc), but thats not the problem per se. A Victoria (1 or 2, as well as Micheal) skin texture maps are at an incredibly high resolution and very large in area size. You standard P4 is not even close. And if you try to enlarge a P4 map to fit the same dimensions as Vicky, the degredation will be so much that it wouldnt be worth using. Besides that, Vicky and Micheal use two maps; one for the body, and one for the head. If you still want to make the (IMHO futile) attempt to convert, then you can find seam guides for Vicky in the free stuff area (search under "SnowSultan"). Then copy, paste, resize, and align. Good luck... a3-ro.jpg

There is no easy way, unless you have a very good P4 texture. Most of them are far from that, because they're so small. I've been converting Staale's P4 textures for Vicky (SnowSultan's Odyssey is also based on Staale's textures), one of them is already available at The Attic, the next one should be soon. Working with Staale's textures isn't very difficult, since they're 3000*3000 and thus big enough to be good quality even when modified to fit Vicky. Basically, all you need is Photoshop or something similar. Photoshop's clone stamp tool is - at least for me - the most important tool when I'm working on textures. Copy, paste, scale, hide seams with the clone stamp tool... that's how it goes. Good luck.

amp-three, here's an image of what I've done so you'll see it's not futile at all if you've got a good P4 texture to work with ;)

Hi, I would have thought that the image would only degrade if it was a straight, "stretch to fit" resizing, then you'll get artifacts, etc. But if you resize it using photoshop, then you can create very large images with no loss of resolution. Admitedly you don't gain a lot by doing this, but it certainly makes it easier to work with, I'm half way through mapping one of Staale's textures to the P4female advanced by MrX, (I've just been a little sidetracked of late, what with a new job and everything :) later jb

You know, Renderosity allows users to choose their own color schemes. So when YOU choose a color for the text, it may not show up well. For me, it was pale blue text on white, barely visible. So unless you ALSO set the background color, beware!

Can you guys explain how you use the clone stamp tool? I am not sure I understand since the tool can only clone small parts of the texture at a time...right? How do you keep track of all the matching up? sorry...I know it's stupid newbie question...

Hi, It's my understanding that the size of the area to be cloned can be altered, try right clicking on the stamp icon in the control panel, I seem to recall that's where you can set the clone radius, failing that hold down the Shift, Alt, Ctrl and "Windows" keys and see if the mouse pointer changes at all. later jb

Click the clone stamp tool and you should be able to choose any brush you like to use with it (you can also use different pressure levels). After that use alt + mouse click to capture a source for the cloning. :)
