Subject: Is there a Poser utility for adjusting clothing to a specific character?

contrafibbularities ( ) posted Sun, 30 August 2009 at 3:08 AM · edited Sat, 30 November 2024 at 1:27 AM

Adjusting clothes to a particular character usually is a bit of a pain. I was wondering if there are  useful utilities to facilitate that tedious task. I've just bought the Naika V4 character from Kaposer, which has options to fit any clothing to the character. It works really great, and is easy to use. Is there a tool for Poser that can do that for any given character?

Thanks for your help!

I believe Wardrobe Wizard by PhilC will do what you require. It comes built into Poser 8, but you may have to buy expansions for some non-Smith Micro figures.

Poser 11 Pro, Windows 10

Auxiliary Apps: Blender 2.79, Vue Complete 2016, Genetica 4 Pro, Gliftex 11 Pro, CorelDraw Suite X6, Comic Life 2, Project Dogwaffle Howler 8, Stitch Witch

Thanks Nanette. I don't have Poser 8 yet, and won't upgrade until I have a new, more powerful PC. Are there any alternatives for Poser 7? Is the Wardrobe Wizard available as a separate utility for earlier Poser versions?

Morphing Clothes by Dimension3D is another really excellent option.

Bulls eye! Thanks, pjz99, that's exactly what I was looking for! It can be used on hair and props, too, which is more than I had hoped for. This is going to be a big, big help. I've been trying to find a tool like that for a while.

Thanks a lot for your help, it's much appreciated!!

Yes there is a Standalone version of Wardrobe Wizard, available at PhilC's website here!

Thanks for the link, LostinSpaceman! I've just watched the tutorial videos on PhilC's site and must say that Wardrobe Wizard looks better even than Morphing Clothes. The video tutorials are very clear and understandable, and the second one covers right what I need at the moment.

I've already bought MC and played around with it for a couple of hours, but for someone who's not that experienced in Poser, I find the utility not as easy to use as people say. I did manage to convert clothes, some successful, some not. The problem I'm having with MC is that the manual is very technical, and there seem to be no detailed step-by-step tutorials like the ones for Wardrobe Wizard. It's difficult for me to figure out what I did wrong, and what I need to do differently.

I think I'll give Wardrobe Wizard a try as well. :-) It'll be interesting to compare it to the results I've had with Morphing Clothes.

If anyone knows any tutorials regarding Morphing Clothes, could you point me in the right direction, please? I've done some googling, but didn't come up with anything that would explain the tool in more detail.

Hm, I found MC pretty easy. It's also much faster than WW, in my experience. PhilC does have a gift for nontech explanation though.

I have both WW2 and CrossDresser for converting clothes made for one character to fit another. (ie, V3 clothes to fit V4). CrossDresser was the easiest and fastest to use.

I don't own Morphing Clothes, but from what I read, it's to transfer morphs to clothing. (i.e. V4 clothes with little to no morphs...MC is supposed to put them in there.

I use Crossdresser at evilinnocence.com.  I love it.  Since WW comes with Poser 8, once I get my Poser 8 bugs worked out (SR1?) I'll give that a try.

I just bought Morphing Clothes last night and have to disagree about the level of difficulty. It's practically point-and-click. Easy step-by-step read me file. Create a character with all the morphs you want to transfer (or I just did one with all possible morphs), load the character into MC, select morphs you want to transfer, move to clothing tab and load clothing, move to Transfer tab and set a path. I find that I haven't had to change much from the initial options other than click or unclick "object is skirt". It's a breeze and works fabulously!

Cross Dresser is just as easy to use! These two products are, IMO, total necessities for everyone's tool kit.

Cross Dresser has "Add Morphs" too. Although I've never used that option.

It never hurts to have multiple tools that do the same and different things. I've used WW since version 1 and I now have Morphing Clothes as well. They both fit neatly into my work flow and I use each for different tasks.

I agree. :-) I've bought WW2 too, thanks again for the tip!. Still running tests. It does take longer than Morphing Clothes, but the results really have been beautiful so far. I've mainly tried the FBM option because one of my main problems is fitting V4 clothing to other V4 characters. I like WW a lot already. Investing money in tools like that is really worth it because it saves such a lot of work. Dressing my girls up will be a lot easier now...

What different tasks do you use WW and MC for? What, in your opinion, are the advantages of WW over MC and vice versa?

I tried using WW  to add morphes to V4  clothes  to  fit on a V4 Char.... (Yes I have the V4 Data File installed) - Even after reading the help files-- all I ever ended up with was confusion .

I got MC and  figured out the three basic steps and in a couple of minutes it was done. It works perfectly ...

I prefer the WW2 standalone version myself. That way while WW2 is converting the clothes, I can use Poser for something else.

gtrdon ( ) posted Sun, 06 September 2009 at 9:06 PM

I went back to WW to  try again creating morphes and this time I suceeded. It really is alot simpler than I thought. I was trying to load a character and then its clothes and perform all sorts of operations. It turn out you don't need to load anything you just go to the "convert Script" select V41 to V41 and let the rest is self explanatory.. The conversion time is very long but you get some extra goodies such as shrink, inflate thown in.  Its a pretty niffty application...
