there are better titles coming from publishers like "Darkhorse"®

Well if there were any hard edges left in the Marvel universe they're about to get smoothed.

Marvel just got totally Pwned by Disney as did all those who still collected Marvel comics...then again this might make the older copies more valuable. LOL.

And with this stroke, the Poser world is in dire danger, as the family friendly Borg will be after =every= potential 'infringement' they can possibly find. After all, there is an economic downturn in process. Even though the Marvel board is supposed to still be intact.........well, we know just how honorable disneycorp is in the realm of business.......

At least Kitty and Colossus got it on before she got bullet trained into the aether...and he got the sharp end of Bald Mountain up the old exhaust pipe. Can't have commies in Family Friendly America, you know........  >:P
Wolverine gets tamed.
Phoenix gets gelded.
Storm gets political.
Dr. Strange is proven a charlatan, as we can't have positive users of magic.
At least Ghost Rider got made before the takeover....
The Watcher turns out to be Galactus's gay older brother....
Stand by for Crisis in Infinite Neighborhoods, where all the heroes have to deal with nasty kids doing bad things before the go to the ice cream social.....

Would someone please remind our courts and political twerps about what's happened every time a moneymaking corporation gets too damned large....?

Sigh.
Maybe Pixar will do a seminal 'John Carter of Mars' ........as they do have the rights, and they seem to be laboring under the 'cartoons is for kids' miasma of disneycorp that Walter Elias Disney certainly did =NOT= believe in.

Marvel can do a Goofy-Punisher team up.  DC can respond with Bosco meets Rorschach.  Life is good.

Actually, my reaction is somewhere between "sigh" and "meh".  Marvel and DC have been passed around by bigger and bigger corporations since the mid-late 70's, IIRC.  The industry is more about "strong global brand and world-renowned library of characters" now than storytelling, as far as I can see.  That's the "sigh".  The "meh" comes as recognition that this is just the latest step in a long trend.  I mean, AOL owns DC, right?

Still, while I find contemporary mainstream comics unreadable, the "strong global brand and world-renowned library of characters" focus may have been good for a boom in action figures and collectible memorabilia.  I'd never have expected to see Killer Moth, Rorschach, or the Golden Age Atom in action figure form.  DC Direct is impressive to me.  Maybe the Disney link will lead Marvel to start its own version of DC Direct.  So I could add "Ooh, goody!" to my list of responses.  Hmm.

Edited because I -abled when I should have -ibled.

I don't think this is such a bad thing - Disney is certainly the Mecca of American animation.  They've been overrun with a lot of teenage girl shit over the past few years so maybe this will be a way to build a stronger male audience base.

Yeah. I don't expect things to change much either. Quite honestly, movies like Spiderman and Ironman are very Disney like allready. Marvel has been moving into that direction for quite some time.

-Morbo will now introduce the candidates - Puny Human Number One, Puny Human Number Two, and Morbo's good friend Richard Nixon.

Basically, DC Comics became DC Entertainment. Publisher Paul Levitz retired when WB brought Diane Nelson in as executive of the new entity, answering to the president of TW. Time/Warner is just, finally, fully integrating DC Comics into the company, allowing easier access to their stable of characters for film, tv, books, video games, animation and electronic content. Time Warner is embracing DC, instead of being embarassed by them. And Diane Nelson will act as the bridge between the Comics side and the other entertainment sections of the company, so that, perhaps, they might actually make another Superman film, or Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, etc, without many hassles and clearances.

Time will tell if this affects the comics side of things, but it should make it easier for cross-platform access to a wider range of film/tv, etc.
