Subject: animations and textures....?

ARCHITECT ( ) posted Wed, 02 September 2009 at 1:46 AM · edited Thu, 09 January 2025 at 6:10 AM

Maybe someone can help me doing this..:

Is it possible to change a texture of a figure/character during an animation (Poser 7/8)?
E.g. - change the eyecolour from blue to green, the skin from pale to dark etc?
Its there a tutorial for this?

Thank you.

A.

Are you trying to change skin tone instantly or is this a gradual change that you are trying to do?

....no it shall be a "gradual" change...
frame 1 to 100 - skin: 001.jpg
frame 100 to 150 changing from 001 to 002.jpg
frame 150 to end - skin: 002.jpg

Use a blender node with the two jpgs as inputs. Toggle animation "on" (Red arrow) Set blending value to 0 at frame 1, go to frame 100 and keyframe it then go to frame 150 and set blending to 1

Thank you...

I'll try it.

Note,   The change did not show up in the preview when I tried it but it does when rendered.

argh.... that doesn't work.
It gives me always the textures of bending value 2... even at frame 1.

I've found that it's not possible to apply these nodes to all bodyparts and groups by simply using "select all" and "apply to all". If doing so you loose the animation of the texture (even if it seems to be "on" it doesn't work)
You have to select every single part of your character and apply the textures and toggle animation every time - one by one.
Maybe it's a bug in Poser 8. Or a feature. Don't know.

The "Apply to all" works for me

When using "Select All" and "Apply to All" be sure to have ALL nodes selected, not just the Poser Surface :) Otherwise the nodes won't copy.

Oh, I did that. I know how to copy the nodes and textures.
But (in Poser 8) the "animation on" wasn't applied to the other material zones - although I checked it... I did some test-renders of different frames and some of the material-zones hadn't changed so I had to check the little key-symbol in the blender node one by one.
