You're talking about using the original V4.2 skin texture as a template to line-up your created version? Sure. Just look in your V4 textures folder. If you are also using the seam guide as reference, open both the seam guide and texture files in Photoshop, select your texture, hold down shift and drag & drop your texture as a new layer over your guide. By doing this, the texture and seam guide will line-up and match. Similarly bring in your new texture for further work.
To attach an image to your post, click the "Choose File" button (down below) and select the file to upload.
I think the Forum file size limit is 200kB, so you may have to create a smaller / lower resolution image.

At the bottom of the aforementioned website, under Resources & Information, there is a download file for the actual V4.2 texture template. It is in 2 flavors, 1 for MAC, the other for PC. Install it into a separate folder where you can find it and open the template in any 2D program (i.e., Photoshop), Use this as a guide for texturing.

Hi, sorry for being such a noob, but I'm starting to experiment. Yesterday I used some photos to create a new face mat for the seam guides (texture map?) you can download from DAZ's V4.2 base page. It was OK, but I have two problems with it:
Is there some way of extracting the supplied V4.2 skin from my runtime and then just changing the face slighty by photoshopping it onto the V4.2 texture? That way, I can make sure the eyes go in the right place and not have to worry about a change in colour at the ears too. I presume I'd then just save the result as a different material so as not to damage my DAZ original?
Thanks
Perp
