Well, you guys and gals are most likely going to hate me after you hear this..and Im going to apologize now...feel free to bite me over it. {within reason, cuz I do have a tendency to bite back }

There was some confusion among the freestuff staff recently, and Im going to place the blame squarely upon myself because I might have not been as clear as I could have been in what we are allowing under the new freestuff policy.

HTML

While browsing thru the freestuff I noticed some items that have been using HTML in the file upload area.

This is not allowed. This is circumventing the freestuff hosting policy and upload requirements.

The only place html is allowed is in the notes section for such things as additional product promos, or more information pertaining to that specific item.

Links in Notes Section

Text links {not banner ads} are allowed also in the notes section, but the link can only lead to the specific item being offered..it cannot lead to your personal website freestuff pages.

File Upload Box

The only thing that can be placed in this box is a zipped archive containing the actual item advertised. No Text Links or HTML in a text document are allowed.

We have the Freestuff Forum here for the exact purpose of placing links to your's or others freestuff items offsite..this is where you may place links to your own personal freestuff pages.

We made this forum for that very purpose, that and getting the freestuff links out of the other forums and get them all in one place. So we aren't completely stopping all offsite personal freestuff pages, nor links to them...its just no longer allowed in the upload/download area.

I know some of you will disagree, and some will not like this, and again I do apologize..there are aways going to be different changes coming down the tubes that we may not all like, but we all learn roll with it.

Nobody in their right mind would be justified in hating you, that would be shooting the messenger which is generally agreed to be very bad manners and is rightly frowned upon in civilised circles. :)

To be fair, HTML uploads had been approved by someone, it doesn't matter who, so we assumed they were allowed. I know you can't blame the admins for lack of guidance, but I'm quite prepared to assume that's the case.

No, I don't like it, but at least now I can stop complaining and get on with my life. :D Thanks for the clarification.

No one on my side of the monitor is going to blame you or hate you for delivering the message.

But, well... let's just say Renderosity will have one less freebie maker. I will not post anything here again. You can relay that to your higher ups that have their heads stuck up their behinds, or buried in the sand - whichever it is.

My gallery is gone. My freebies are gone from here as well, and I've been posting to both since 2002.

I'm sorry the policy has changed in this manner. The freestuff forum is nice, but let's face it - most freebie downloaders are NOT coming to the forums, they're searching the Rendo freebie section, which is of course where the higher ups are hoping to make the most pennies they can.

I agree... most "freebie" downloaders are deffenitely not gonna check the forums looking for freebies... i know when i first joined this site a couple years back i never even bothered looking at the forums... i do now but that's because i became part of the community... so many people here have been helpfull and kind since i started trying to work on things that others could use... but if i was only looking for free downloads i'd never think to check the forums unless someone i knew directed me to one specifically...

That aside, no one hates you... it's not the people we hate... it's the policy... you're just getting the message out there so everyone knows where we stand... and i'm sorry if you and the moderators are getting undeserved flak... i realise it's not your fault :)

 A couple of 'years back' we didn't have a freestuff forum...that is a recent addition...just so y'all know we are progressing.. ...

well that is good to know... ty bobby i actually didn't know that ... i never really bothered with the forums at all when i started coming here... ya learn somethin new every day... lol... kewl :)

I will not be posting anything new in the FreeStuff for now.
