Hello again,

I'm having a blast learning and experimenting with Vue 7 ProStudio.  I was looking at some of the content at Cornucopia3D, but some things do not make sense to me.

1. What is with the "locked to license" versions of add-ons and other content?  Is this to prevent warez distribution?  Am I supposed to install it to my main Vue runtime, or can I install it in an external Vue runtime?

2. What is with all the "vouchers cannot be used" ststements?  Can I still purchase these items with a traditional credit/debit card?  Do I need to earn/buy points to purchase content?

3. Why can't I search by theme or genre?  If I click on the vehicles tab, and then on any of the other sub-tabs, I get a "0 results" page.  I would really like to look throught the catalogue of items there, just like I can here at Renderosity.

I can answer number 2... your credit card/debit card is good on all purchases.  Vouchers are like gift certificates, and my Vue 6 esprit/Poser 7 bundle came with a lovely little one for Cornucopia.  It was frustrating wading through all of the voucher-unfriendly items to find the few that ARE voucher-friendly, though.

You have to set the "Display options" for the store.
The link is on the lefthand side of the main page, directly below the search box.

1. "locked to lissence" means you can load/import it into vue but you cant export it from vue. So for example, if you bought a model of a car you can get it into vue but you cant export it in an 'obj' format to be used in another  application. It can be a bit annoying if you want to make some modifications to the model - you cant do it in vue and you cant get it into a modelling program. The locked versions are cheaper though - so its up to you what you buy.
   You can install it anywhere you like, but if it isnt in the forlder vue expects it you will need to add your folder when you load the first time.
2. That's odd. When I click on 'vehicles' and then 'space' I get 26 items displayed. The other sub-tabs also display items for me.

Oh I never knew about this link...it also has a box to tick so you can search for voucher friendly/locked items only...Although why they lumped the two together is a mystery, couldnt they use 2 buttons?

To your voucher question. At the start of Cornucopia3D - I don't know whether it is still the case now - e-on gave vouchers to those who bought their first Vue products. Now because Cornucopia3D is a platform for external vendors as well, they left it open to those to participate on this voucher program or not. Therefore some items are voucher friendly, others not.

@ArtPearl. Locked to license and locked for export are two different things. Locked to license means, the item is restricted to the licenses someone owns and can not opened (other than as dummy box) by other Vue licenses. Forbidden export is something everybody can define themselves to limit the use just for Vue. It of course often goes together, but not necessarily.

The license number of your copy of Vue (which Cornucopia3D got when you registered Vue) is incorporated into the content so that only your copy of Vue can load it so you can't give it away to other Vue users.

You can save some money this way.

OTOH, I wouldn't be surprised if there is an easy way around this limitation.

Click the Display Options button on the upper left of the Cornucopia page. It's right under the search box.  Make sure it is set to diplay all objects, not just voucher friendly.

Wow.  Thanks for the feedback guys and gals.  I finally got the display settings to work, and can now search the Cornucopia.  The licensing and vouchers makes sense now, too.  Some sites work differently than DAZ or Renderosity, so I wanted to check first.

There probably is, but as with anything that violates the EULA/TOS, it just isn't worth it in the end.

Although I wonder, when you buy it locked to liscence, that means you still cannot export it even with a valid copy of xStream??

I guess the export has still some license information. I have content which is locked to my license, but I can't test this because I only own one license for Vue.
Maybe someone from a graphics studio with more Vue installations can test this.

To repeat it. "Locked to license" has NOTHING to do with export of items. Nor saving them as vob or veg.

It simply means that an item can used only with ALL Vue licenses the person owns that bought the item. So the test you propose would not work. Of course the items will open in all Vue installations - when they are owned by the same who bought the store item.

I for example have several Vue licenses - Vue 6, 7 and 7.5. Of course i can open all my (locked to license) Cornucopia3D items with all these licenses. But I can not send them to my friend Crowning so that he can use them too and save some money.

That's true. I meant someone with several licenses under different Cornucopia3D names.

And before someone asks, it's curiositiy only, I don't want to offer or accept any Cornucopia3D items. The stuff over there is dirt-cheap anyway.
