I was reading a locked thread here at the forum from someone who was looking for a sexually explicit image that had been deleted from the gallery. As expected, some discussion arose about the nature of the image and why it was banned. 
I´m quite happy with the "no sexually explicit content" rule but it got me thinking about the double standard we seem to have regarding "sexual explicitness" vs. violence and gore and it gave me a fantastic idea...

I would make an image titled "Attack of the Pissed off Censor Girl".  It would star naked V4 in a frenzied, sexually explicit pose, impaling Micheal 4 with a trident with blood and guts flying everywhere. And to underline my point I would place censor signs over V4's naked bits but leave the gore and violence for all to see! Yes, it would have shaken the foundations of our whole community.  But before I started I decided to quickly browse the TOS (to make sure I was really revolting:) and I found this little irritating clause:

No Torture [defined as: the infliction of intense pain (as from burning, crushing, wounding, crucifixion) to punish, coerce, or afford sadistic pleasure]

"What?!! That can´t be!" I thought to myself, "Every other image in the Poser gallery is a hack'n slash gorefest!" I decided to investigate this further and browsed through some images in the gallery only to find out I was wrong. The Poser gallery is mostly filled bare breasted chicks with long hair and claymores!

Because of My inappropriate ranting over this I was locked out of Rendo for a few weeks.  Going against TOS is NOT a good idea..!!

Well I didn't want to go against the TOS.  I wanted to make an extremely disturbing image that fit inside the rules of the TOS.  The point I´m trying to make here is that I got all worked up without really reading the TOS.  I think it is quite well balanced although I, personally, wouldn't mind if it would cut some slack on sexual activity and brutal violence ;)  But, as has been mentioned countless times on countless threads, there are countless other sites where you can post such images.

 First things first, NoelCan, please don't lie.  You were banned for spamming other members.  You are VERY lucky the ban was removed.  Had I been in Stacey's position, I wouldn't have been so gracious.

Second, Vestmann, as stated in the locked thread, images containing masturbation are not allowed in our galleries.  If that's your cup of tea, I would suggest a visit to either Renderotica or RaunchyMinds, and I'm sure they'd welcome new members.  I, myself, am a member at Renderotica (and have tried unsuccessfully a few times to join RaunchyMinds, I never got the activation email), and enjoy some of the work there.

As for the "violence" thing.  While not spelled out in our TOS, the thumbnail guidelines, which are linked to from the TOS, state what is and isn't considered violence by the staff.  If there isn't ACTUAL violence happening in the scene, it's not considered violent.  Not before the violence, not after the fact.*  It may have been exercised differently in the past, but the current incarnation of the Renderosity Team tries not to be too heavy-handed when it comes to the images.

Also, while some torture may be violent, violence doesn't always equal torture.  This is why we separate the two.

*note:  In some instances, if there is an extreme amount of blood and/or gore, we may indeed ask for a violence flag be added to the image, if, and only if, the image is considered by the team to still be ok for the site.  Sometimes, we do consider some images to be too much for the site, and, as the TOS states, at our discretion, we let the member know why it wasn't appropriate.

 JenX... If you're still interested in joining RM please let me know. Thing is we had to move to manual activation due to an incredible amount of spammers/bots.. and inevitably some legit requests slips through the cracks when we weed out what appears to be bots. Sorry about that! (and that goes for everybody else.. if you've tried to get in and had no luck, throw me a PM and I'll fix it :) )

Like I said in my second post, I´m not having a go at the TOS. If anything, I was defending it.  My first post was an attempt (and a failed one by the looks of it) to look at hings from maybe a bit lighter side. I have absolutely no need to post such images.  I am a member at both Renderotica and RaunchyMinds and I think I´ve posted about 3 images between them.

  My actions were a direct result of My Image thumbnail being manipulated by a Moderator.. and My  subsequent actions were inappropriate.  I am NOT lying and it is obvious that You have something personal against Me. Sure, I am outspoken.  But I have NEVER lied or been defamatory in this , or any other forum..

 NoelCan, I was simply stating a fact.  You stated that you were banned for an image flag change, and, since your record clearly refutes that, I cleared it up.  Had you been anyone else, I'd have done the same, and HAVE done the same.  Your "actions" were a TOS violation.  It's not acceptable to send members unsolicited sitemail about a staff member removing a flag on your image.  You didn't get a warning, you were just asked to read the TOS and not do it again.  You may "feel" differently, but feeling differently doesn't change the facts.

hehe... no problem.  The only thing I find very sad is that "The Attack of the Pissed off Censor Girl" idea will probably never see it's fruition. It would be pretty pointless posting it at R'otica or RM ;)

thanks for the violence notes. I've been dinged twice for 'not being violent' (even tho the last time I set half of London on fire...;) so now I have a better handle. I'll have to come up with something truly violent as a control group...;)
