Subject: Rendering with no lighting but not getting a black figure?

Hey all,

Is there a way to render an image without lighting but still have the figure be coloured?  When I turn off all the lights, the figure becomes completely black.  I'm trying to render some game sprites and lighting would ruin the way the figure looks while rotated.

For example:  If I render the figure from overhead, when I rotate the sprite, the shadows move with the sprite despite the fact the sprite hasn't moved through the scene.

I can provide a picture if that's not very clear.

Thanks guys!

Turn off shadows for the lights.
I render preview animations using three spotlights , all ligt grey color, spaced at 120 degree pointing at the center where my figure is rotating. Positioned slightly above and pointing down about 30 degrees. Spotlight start angle 70 , end angle 140 .

With this setup you will still get some small specular changes as the model is turned.

With Poser 7 or 8 you could use Image based lights or GI.

In Poser 8 load a skydome prop and delete the lights.   Make sure you choose IDL in your render settings and adjust tone mapping to your liking.  You will get a globally illuminated render.

You can use Bagginsbill's environment sphere found here:  http://sites.google.com/site/bagginsbill/free-stuff
