Subject: Is it possible to create a new figure?

Hi! I'm a newbie, and I use Daz3D and Poser. I still don't know a lot of things, but I've a question to ask to someone that is more expert than me: is it possible to create a new figure?

I wanted to create a kind of "freak", combining three Victoria 4.2., because I wanted to make a Victoria 4.2. with a pair of feet instead of the hands. So I used two girls to make the left and right feet and the third to make the base. When I ended the work, I was able to save it only in the .cr2 format. But I don't want to save the figure like a scene, i would like to save it in the library like a new character and to use it when I want. Is it possible? And if it isn't... What do you suggest to do?

A cr2 is a library file. Which application are you using for this - you mention saving a cr2, but you post in the DAZ Studio forum (which needs the Figure Setup Tools to export a cr2).

I use daz studio 3. When i saved the file, i chosed the option "save as" and saved it in the .cr2 format. It was also possible to save it like various type of presets, but however, the file never appeared in the library.

Pardon, I made an error: the format is .daz, not .cr2.

However, when i save something in this format, i'm not able to see the creation in the library. How can i do to create a figure, and save it in the library in order to use it in future? Is it possible?

You need to create a cr2 only for use in Poser - saving as a scene is fine (and better, in that it retains material settings) for DS use. The Figure Setup Tools include a CR2 exporter - that's the only way to get a Poser figure file out of DS at the moment.

ok, heres a simple way to do it, so long as you dont care about posing the feet

get Wings 3D, or another modeling program, and load V4 as an .obj (youll have to export her from DAZ as an .obj first, though)

highlight everything but the feet and delete. export the feet (individually) as .obj's

re-load them into DAZ and position them where you want them.

now, if you want to be able to pose the feet, just load 3 V4's, hide everything but the feet, and reposition as necessary. This method is a little...cumbersome, though

I haven't still tried with another modeling program (but I'll do), but the "Figure Setup Tools" suggested by RHaseltine allows to save a character in the library.

Thank you for your help RHasentine and Darman42, now I can become Dr. Frankenstein, and now I can create a lot of strange monsters! XD
