Subject: 32 bit Poser on 64 bit Windows7 os

pappy411 ( ) posted Thu, 22 October 2009 at 9:28 AM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 10:37 AM

i guess Poser 5-6-7-&8 are 32 bit apps only.  Will they run normally on a 64 bit windows 7 os?

I am confused on this issue as no mention of 32 bit or 64 bit on Poser 5-6-7-8.  Poser Pro is advertised as 64 bit engine.  Will I have to get Poser Pro if i run a 64 bit os?

thanks for any advice.
Pappy

Poser has always been a 32bit program, even Poser 7 Pro is a 32bit program, they work just as happily in 64bit Windows as they do in 32bit Windows.

A 54 bit OS will run most 32 bit applications with no problems at all and you will get better memory handling.   Poser Pro adds a 64 bit render engine

Up till a few weeks ago I was using the Windows 7 64bit Beta & Poser 4-8 work perfectly, I'm now using XP64 & still get good performance out of Poser.

I've been using Poser's 6-8 on Windows 7 for months (as well as both the 64 and 32 bit versions of DS) with absolutely no problems :)

It's probably what's known as a "side by side configuration error".
