Subject: Need help finding a Poser file

Christian22179 ( ) posted Wed, 09 December 2009 at 9:55 PM · edited Mon, 27 January 2025 at 9:01 AM

There is this freebie that, for some reason, someone has as coded it as a .pcf file and I need the p4nudewoman.obj file to help decode it.

The readme says I need Objaction Mover to decode it (Available here in the freestuff).

The readme says to go here for the Seed files:

C:Program Filese frontierPoser 7RuntimeGeometriesP4NudeWoman

I go there with Objaction Mover and I don't see the needed .OBJ file. When I go there using, My Computer, I see a .OBZ file instead of an .OBJ file.

Not what I need.

I tried E-mailing the one who created the product with no reply (it's been months). Can someone please help me out?

The .OBZ file is a compressed .OBJ file.  You will need to uncompress it.

You can find the uncompress/compress option in the window tool bar of Poser when you have it open.

Window / Python Scripts / Utility Function

This is the "Compress" option.

You can choose to compress object files in Poser 6 and Poser 7.  That option is not available in Poser 5 however.  I find that .obj files can take up much space, so I always compress those now.

You can also choose to keep or delete the original uncompressed files.  Personally I see no reason to compress a file to save space, yet keep the original uncompressed version too.  So I always check to delete the original uncompressed file.

You have the same options for "uncompress" too.

Again, when you are asked to browse to the folder you want to compress/uncompress, while I'm showing a Runtime folder, you can pick any single folder inside, you do not have to do the whole folder if you do not want to. For example, sometimes I will need to uncompress a single .obj file. What I do is browse to the Geometries folder and locate the folder that contains the .obj file I want to uncompress or compress, and just work on that folder.

You need to uncompress the OBJ file, later versions of poser came with compressed files.

Open Poser and go to the top menu Scripts->Utility->uncompressPoserFiles

Browse to the folder
C:Program Filese frontierPoser 7RuntimeGeometriesP4NudeWoma

Check "Uncompress Geometry files" and click OK.

Then try again with Ojaction Mover.

;)  Just a copy/paste from one I made a few years back :)

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the help. I uncompressed the file successfully, but unfortunately, Objaction Mover STILL refuses to uncode the file by saying "Wrong Seed File" DESPITE the fact that I it's the CORRECT one according to the readme.

Grrr. SO frustrating. Why can't people just opt to NOT code file freebies? It's MUCH easier that way.

Here is the instructions from the readme. I managed to convert some files the last time I used it:

Quote - 1. Power up Mover

  1. Click on the 'Decode' radio button (the little round thingie). The
blue arrows should appear indicating that you are going to translate
from a difference file (pcf) to a figure file (obj).

  2. Click on the 'Difference File' button. An 'Open' dialogue should
    appear.

  3. Use the open dialogue to navigate to wherever you've put the pcf
file. Hint: It's best to put the pcf file wherever you want the obj file
that you're creating to be. This will usually be ......Poser3RuntimeG
eometries*** where *** is usually specified by the person who created
the pcf file (look for his readme).

  4. If step 4 went OK then you should find that the file name has
appeared in the box to the left of the 'Difference File' button and a
filename has also appeared in the topmost box - 'Original seed File'.

  5. The 'Original Seed File' box is telling you the name of the file that
was originally used as part of the process of creating the pcf file.
However, Mover doesn't know at this point where that file is on you
computer or even if it's there at all so you've gotta go find it. Click
on the 'Seed File' button and another 'Open' dialogue appears. Navigate
around until you find the seed file. This will usually be in ....Poser3
RuntimeGeometriesxxx but xxx will vary depending upon the particular
seed file. It's probably best to use the Windows find file facility to
    track it down.

  6. If you've found the location of the seed file and clicked 'open' in
the 'Open' dialogue then the seedfile name (and full path) should appear
in the seed file box. The 'Convert' button will also be enabled now.

  7. Click on the 'Convert' button.

  8. If you've got the right file names then a message will appear that
the conversion is complete (and it will beep). If not, you'll get an
error message. I'll assume you got it right rather than going through
    every possible error.

You can now close down Mover and if you use windows explorer (or
whatever) you'll find that you now have an obj file in the same
directory as the pcf file and with the same name.

Could you point us to the freebie if it's still available? I'd be willing to try it myself.

Encoding files is necesary since distributing the obj file of Poser figures is illegal unless stated otherwise.

Thanks Acadia! Now  I see where I've gone wrong. It worked.

Unfortunately, the freebie, once loaded into Daz Studio, works fine yes. But then when I try and pose it, it breaks into a million pieces. So...completely useless to me.

Hioushi: Here's the link. http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/index.php?user_id=26631&page=1

Downloaded the file ages ago, so I can't remember if Ultra Woman for V4 was a seperate download or if I got it in the Ultra Girl Complete Download.

Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it. :)

Glad to hear you worked it out but sorry to hear it doesn't work with DS, I can confirm it works with Poser, maybe you'd have more luck posting in the Daz forums, I have no experience with DS.

You're welcome, and thanks for the link =)
