heyas; just this quickie advice: TWIST BAR: everything beyond the green end DOES move. everything beyond the red end does NOT. in between is the blend zone. JOINT X: everything between the green arms DOES move. everything between the red arms does NOT. in between is the blend zone. MAT SPHERES: everything inside the green sphere DOES move. everything outside the red sphere does NOT, unless it is also in the green sphere (green overrides red). in between is the blend zone.

I am just finising up a tutorial regarding the joint editor, it will help show you what you can use it for, the tutorial should be done by this weekend, it is in regards to creating poseable objects from .obj files. But we do go into depth regarding the joint editor. Watch for my post, it may help your understanding regarding the joint editor. Sharen http://www.sams3d.com

...thanx for your advices, but I already know this things, what I don't understand is why sometimes, (e.g. using the mat sphere) my figure become a monster, all the joint go where they want and there is no way to undo or to replace correctly the arms or the legs (don't worry, I have unselect the IK). Probably I need some more experience... bye

Until the tutorial is ready, try moving the center of the joint, your mouse will turn into a little circle when you reach the center of the crosshairs and you can move it around, line both crosshairs up together and experiment with the rotation angle on the bottom of the joint editor....you can get really good reactions if you try to move it yourself, sometimes better than you think you need. Parenting has alot to do with it also. Sharen

Vasquez - the mat spheres sort of tells Poser that the stuff INSIDE is to be affected/deformed when limbs are bent etc., and the stuff OUTSIDE is not. Try loading a figure, starting up the joint editor, choose a limb and check under body parts. Select every element in turn (yes, try the mat sph.s, too), and change their values SLOWLY via the dials. It's very instructive - just be sure to set the display to rendered-all-the-time (not switching to boxes when moving). That way you will quickly develop an intuitive understanding of what happens. Just remember - whatever you do DON'T SAVE THE FIGURE !!!!!

Thank you thip, it's all clear, but why can't I save the figure? what happens????

If you save the figure to library after fiddling with the joint parms for practice, be sure to save it with a new name - otherwise you'll have those ruined joints in that figure always! Of course, once you have the joint parms you want, you should indeed save the figure. Personally, I always load a standard figure and immediately save it to New Figures library as "WIPfigure" and then load WIPfigure when I want to practice or experiment. Have fun.

ok! I undestood I can't save my figure as Poser project. It's obvious that overwrite the standard figure is a bad idea, I'm still not so stupid. Anyway thank you for your explanations! I'll have fun.

Vasquez - this particular Poserite WAS so stupid. I had very little experience with libraries and figures and joint editing, but when my P4 guy kept loading looking like an early version of Frankenstein's monster, I began to learn (after reinstall). On second thought, maybe I should offer that figure in the forums as a horror character...? Seriously, if you want to set a conforming figure's joints, you can also transfer the joint parms from the target figure's CR2 - it's often faster. Have fun.
