Subject: A real Poser 7 Frustration and other words that go hand in hand...

Hello all!  I am having issues with my program opening and not allowing me to select any part of the models in a scene with the cursor.  All it does is move the scene as if I was in the Front veiw camera (and no I am not in that camera veiw 8P ).  I can't select anything via the main screen nor can I manipulate anything as in twisting or rotating it with the cursor.  I can still select items via the menus so going in and selecting Shirt then selecting right arm then rotate or scale et al works fine so I can still manipulate things perfectly well, so all the menus run fine and the rendor system is still working I just cant use direct manipulation.

So I am a bit confused here.

Anyone with any ideas will be lauded and huzzahed

First off--some simple stuff. Shut off poser and turn your computer off and restart everything.

If that doesn't work, on to the second thing. Go to Documents and Settings/ Administrator/ Application Data (a faded looking folder)/ Poser 7

DELETE (inside this folder) the LibraryPrefs.xml +PreferredState.Pz3. Then go into the "English" folder and Delete the Poser_UI_Prefs file.

This SHOULD reset the Poser program back to beginning factory state.

The files I just mentioned get recreated when poser boots up. Please delete them while poser is NOT running!

If this doesn't work, It might be some kind of other problem. I have had the same problem before and my suggested course of action HAS worked for me.

Thanks for the ideas, to be honest the power that is renderocity has already laid hands and fixed it though...  I kid you not, without doing anything, I went back on to see if I was missing anything... Nothing wrong.  I didnt do a thing!  Its fixed but I am still gonna do what you said should it reoccur.  Thanks Woot and Huzzah to you!

It's problem with Poser itself. It's some kind of 'Memory Leak'. SOmetime poser hangs for little to no reason. Thing to do is SAVE YOUR WORK and frequently. When the program goes flooey, just shut it down and restart. Sometimes the xml files get corrupted and need to be wiped, like I outlined.

It's a LOT better than it used to be, but does it still occasionally enough to remind me to keep an eye on it. If it helped, then GOOD. There are TONS of stuff to learn from the program, and I only been at it since 2003. I'm still learning.

And its back again!  So the restart should clear it up hopefully.

I had that happen, too. Pressing Space fixed it though.
