THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Two Questions

Bryce 4: When I am in hardware draw mode - I cannot get wireframe shadows, underground hidden lines, or depth cues. This happens whether it is drawing wireframe or flat shaded. There is no mention in the manual about this. When I go to default wireframe (ie no hardware drawing) all the extra functions work fine. Am I doing something wrong? Also can someone tell me what the content CD of Bryce 5 is like? Does it have lots of new stuff!!??

I think I've had pretty much the same experience. I generally use the "Default Wireframe" to work in, I'm not sure but I think Bryec doesn't use your graphics card too well. To me the content CD of v-5 doesn't have as many materials as on the 4 content CD, but fortunately the materials from Bryce 4 work in 5. There are a lot of pictures for textures though. But the program is worth the upgrade, It took some time for me but now I'm glad I got it. kaom

I finally got it...arrived yesterday. I'm happy with it. I have noticed an increase in render times...but I really don't have anything better to do than stare at my screen in anticipation...so it doesn't really bother me. I really like the new interface! What can I say...I've always liked blues and metalic colors...I'm a sucker for shiney things :) B5 is well worth the upgrade! I haven't really explored the Content CD too much...did notice there were a couple of textures and maps but I really didn't play around in there too much.

rockjockjared, I think we're the only ones who like the new interface colors. I've always had a fastination for the color blue and polished metals. I've heard a lot of other comments by people who don't like the new interface colors, I don't know why though, I think it looks slick and modern, a beautiful interface. Enjoy Bryce 5, I know I am. kaom

kaom - you know what i hate about getting new programs? I always get a nice little block for about 2 weeks where I can't do a thing with them! Its like "Wow! I have all these neat little new toys! What do I do with them?" It was like that for Max and now all I can do in B5 is play in the tree lab, prolong my renders with the nifty settings, and make alien hands out of metaballs! So needless to say, I'll be glad when this little block is over with! Have fun and happy rendering! Jared

rockjockjared, It will pass. But I know what you mean, it's like a new set of Legos, big fat digital Legos. The Tree Lab is great, isn't it? Metaballs, I mean "Meatballs" are pretty cool too. Bryce 5 is becoming cooler every minute. kaom
