The nice thing about Australian immigrations though is that they don't require you to leave the country in order to apply for a new visa. All you need to do is submit your new application before the previous one expires. Then they issue you a so-called bridging visa while they decide.

Well, I read a few things about German immigration laws recently. What stunned me was that they can take your permanent residency away if you don't stick around. Otherwise, I don't really know anything about how they act. My father came to Germany in the early 60s, when pretty much everyone who could hold a hammer or paintbrush was welcome.

After massive protests of the citizens of the city where the family lived the youngest daughter was allowed to stay and finish school while the rest of the family was sent "home"... and there are so many other examples. Hi Everybody !

I just finish a NEW BodySuit for Antonia.
I'll like to share, it's conforming and has cool edge loops for the mat-zones.
Fully UV mapped with UV Mapper Pro and UV Layout for unfolding.
No morphs, I'm working on those, LOL !

I'm so looking forward to the final figure. Will she need PMD's to work though? I've had to turn these off in Poser 8 as they were clashing with my Daz figures and causing it to crash.

I've missed weeks worth of replies too as my notifications weren't coming though

Keep up the good work

How did you turn PMDs off? Do you mean the "use binary morph targets" setting in the preferences dialog? That just applies to saving files. It doesn't prevent you from loading morphs via PMDs.

That said, I'm not planning to use PMDs in the final version.

Rogerbee1 ( ) posted Thu, 21 January 2010 at 5:20 PM

Ahhhhh!!

The mists clear a little! I didn't realise that only applied to saving files! I did mean "use binary morphs". I did notice that Antonia didn't need them, which is good.

Thanks for clearing things up

I have a question about the bones arrangement.  I noticed that the Antonia has hip and hip2.  It seems that it makes Antonia's legs bend naturally.  I just wonder if it is possible to have some "hidden" bones driven by the main bones to deform the character instead of using the traditional JCM.

I'm going to make a conforming clothing for Antonia.  Is there any good tools for making JCM?

I think it's entirely possible. In fact phantom3D's Brad bends really well without any JCMs. I'm just more comfortable with the direct sculpting approach on the mesh level. Anything using magnets or hidden body parts seems tricky to control and in the end not quite as versatile. Of course, without the DAZ setup tools I wouldn't have been able to make JCMs of the quality that Antonia has.

I think phantom3D said he might be interested in working on an alternative, less JCM-heavy rig for Antonia one day. That'll probably be a while, since he's got his own figure to take care of first, but when he does, I it'll be quite interesting.

You'd have to ask DRAKELOT how they got the JCMs onto the conforming figure so nicely.

odf, I do indeed have a rig in mind, it is almost the same as the one that is in there now except I got rid of the body handles, and a few other little changes. I also want to do a P8 upgrade rig for her since P8 gives so many new better options. In P8 you can easily have hidden bones driven by the main ones, That is something you could do in Max that I always liked, now in Poser too :)

Really cool body suit BTW, just gorgeous.

"DAZ setup tools" is the figure setup tools that come with DAZ Studio 3 Advanced Bundle?

Yep, the figure setup tools. MorphLoaderPro most importantly, since it allows to load morphs that were sculpted on the posed mesh.

So, since Antonia is getting closer and closer to leaving the 'preview' domain and having 'real' releases, I was thinking about numbering schemes. I like the convention used in many software projects in which odd minor revision numbers are reserved for experimental versions and even ones for stable versions. In other words, versions 1.0.x, 1.2.x, 1.4.x and so on would be stable (with the x changing whenever there's a bug fix patch), whereas 0.9.x, 1.1.x, 1.3.x would be experimental.

So with this in mind I would make the next release version 0.9.121 (and also retroactively rename the current version from 118 to 0.9.118 and so on) and then advance toward the 1.0.0 for the first stable version. I'm still not completely sure whether there can be a 1.0 without a full set of expression morphs, but I'm getting the feeling that the shape and rig of the body are now as good as I can get them, and that it's (almost) time to get the message out that she's ready for use. Maybe version 1.0 could have a basic set of expression morphs so that people have something to start with, and I could work on the full set for 1.2.

Comments are, as usual, appreciated.

Well, I guess the experimental ones won't need a "beta". The stable versions will go through alpha, beta, rc and release as usual.

That's a cute character, Cage! Unfortunately, there is a small change in the head geometry. The eyes were found too large and have been reduced in size. I don't think it will be too hard to adjust your magnet setting accordingly, though.

Working on the new release, version 0.9.121, as we speak.

Has the vertex count or order changed, as well as the shape of the head?

Unfortunately I didn't save the magnets.  There would be a couple hundred on the head, if I had.  LOL

Guess I'll have to see if I can transfer the morph somehow.

So, I've equipped Antonia 0.9.121 with her new, official, hybrid UV mapping - all by MikeJ, except for the eyes, which are reverted to my original mapping.

From this version on, the packaging will be a little different: I'll put up the base package without the textures and contributed morphs; just the obj and cr2 files with the JCMs and the few "built-in" morphs, plus the demo poses I made for her. Since she has her own web-site now (primitive as it may be), there's no need to put everything into a big package, and by splitting things up we'll have a bit more flexibility. I'll keep maintaining the base package, and I'll host contributions from people who can't host them themselves, but otherwise I'll just put up the links, and people can update their own content when they're ready. When the stable release is out, and we have some stable add-ons that seem essential, we might go back to a more complete download package for user convenience.

I'll probably put things together and upload tomorrow. I'll post the download link here and on the developers side,  then give SaintFox and BluEcho some time to get their textures ready. Once there's at least one texture package that works with the new version, I'll make the download link for Antonia 0.9.121 public.

Great!  :D  That means head morphs created for the currently-posted figure will still work.  The old head will need to be loaded onto the new one as a morph, to get the same results, but any face work on the current public version can be preserved.  Huzzah!

Yes, you could do it that way, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Unless you were making a space alien anyway, you might want to profit from the now correct eye sizes. I'd try to just apply the deltas to the new version and see if you need to make any adjustments. My experience with changing Antonia's shape was that most of existing morphs kept working fine.

Or, if you haven't made deltas yet, you could apply the new head shape as a morph to the old version, add your morph to the mix, then export the result and apply it as a morph to the new version. 😉

Okay, the new version is now online here: sites.google.com/site/antoniapolygon/Antonia-0.9.121.zip

As I said earlier, I will not publish that link on the homepage just yet, but wait until there's at least one texture set that's ready for the new mapping. I'm including an alternative version with my original UV mapping, though, so that people will still be able to use the old textures. So don't worry, SaintFox, we'll patiently wait until you're ready. 😉

@ dphoadley: How's the status of the V3 remap? Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay on top of things and help out with the testing while you made it, so now I'm not sure whether you deem it ready, and how you're planning to make it available. As soon as you're happy with the mapping, I'll create the high-res version and send it back to you. I can also offer hosting if for some reason you prefer not to host it on your own site.
